I am almost 38 years old, unfortunatley. My grandmother who died of a stroke as she was diebetic, and my mother who has to take insulin all the time has it with complications. I had a blood test last week, but it was not for mu sugar level, it was mainly to check my Iron level, but did not realise they did my sugar as well. I just had lunch and drank soft drink, and had breakfast that morning too. It showed not fasting 4.6. How much difference would it have made if it was fasting in the morning and got it done then? I keep fit and run 4-5 days per week. I am not over weight, and do not smoke. I have good blood pressure, and pulse rate. I do not want to get the disease, even though my family history is very strong. My mother never ran or excersised much even when she was growing up. I had an athletic back ground, and like to go for my 40-50 runs most days. Can I still avoid getting diebetes.as I do not want it. I love eating chocholate excpecially cadbury ones the milk tray ones. Any

you can give me? I do not drink alcohol anymore, as it runs your body down so much. My higest blood sugar fasting was 5. And then 4 months later it was 4.6 as I started running again. And now last week it was 4.6 not fasting, which means it has come down which is good. like i asked how much difference would fasting make for a blood test for sugar?

My answer is to talk to your doctor about prevention.
This is your tale of your near death from bowel cancer "I almost died in my mothers arms last saturday before I was healed as I was gasping for air, and no I do not have asthma, it was spreading to my lungs, and I was pale as a ghost, and almost on my last legs" but yet this same day you were on Yahoo answers and in your other post under general diseases & conditions you say they have ruled out bowel cancer. You are a liar who sends many here (myself included) hate mail.

The AMA says there is no cure for diabetes, but they are the same ' unbiased experts' who say there is no cure for cancer, and make our citizens go out of the country for effective treatment. Just ask Suzanne Sommers, who had cancer till she received treatment in England. She is cured, now.
Yes, there absolutely IS a cure for type 2 diabetes, but it's not a magic pill. A person must have enough will power to change the things in his life that caused him to start being a diabetic in the first place.
Quoting Dr. Frank right here on Yahoo! Answers, " A group of doctors took some newly diagnosed type 2 diabetics, and, with their permission, put them through a VERY tough program of diet, weight loss and VERY vigorous exercise. They were very closely supervised, controlled and monitored. About 30% of them were able to bring their glucose tolerance tests back to normal, which did mean they were no longer technically diabetic." Hey, that's a diplomatic way of saying they were CURED.
Second, in WWII London, standard items like sugar and white bread, and extra cooking oil, and civilian gasoline were almost non-existent for several years, and Londoners ate basic foods and walked a lot, or rode bicycles. A strange thing happened--diabetes, which had been at epidemic proportions before the war, practically disappeared--until the war ended and people returned to their normal deitary and exercise habits--and, you guessed it--the diabetes reappeared. That's a true story, and that alone points to the real problem and solution.
Third, we have modern documentation reaffirming the proof of a cure for type 2 diabetes--watch this 8-minute, non-profit video trailer, and you can be convinced, too.

And last, if we are so wasted our bodies will not heal on their own, we have effective help to get well.
The book, "One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313, outlines a simple plan to use herbs and minerals to retune our bodies and bring our metabolisms back to normal. Here are the main items he has researched, and that work--
Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate
Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites. A quarter teaspoon twice daily makes a difference. Fenugreek increases blood flow and inhibits the growth of infectious organisms. Everything on the list has a use in fighting diabetes, and when combined with the proper diet and exercise, can bring hope to almost all type 2 diabetics who will believe and work the program.
Best of luck.

Blood glucose levels can be affected by having a cup of coffee with milk and sugar.
The most accurate picture of you level can only be obtained with a fasting test (6 to 8 hours without eating or drinking anything that might contain sugar), because only the actual level of glucose in the blood will be measured.
Exercising and eating right can help to prevent Diabetes,
as can maintaining a healthy weight.

You have the "genetic proneness", so you have to avoid the "trigger". Go on making exercise, dont, start smoking, go on not drinking, keep a healthy weight...and have a FASTING test glucose one day and then, another day, a glucose tolerance curve with 75 gr of glucose with blood sample taken two hours later after you ate the 75 gr.
