This is my sister's foot and these blisters appeared....could they be linked to diabetes? They have been there for 2 weeks and diabetes runs in our family.

I am getting a pump in the next month. I was just wondering how people wear 2 piece swim suits, and how to wear it when you exercise?

my future MIL apparently has big bruising on her foot this morning...she does not recall anything dropping on or happening to her foot...she has some developmental or some sort of disorder plus other health issues but i highly doubt she'd forget hurting her foot, knowing her as i do...she is 69.

i am concerned about diabetic gangrene...i have not seen her foot but i want to make sure she gets checked out by her visiting home nurse.

My daughter has been having intermittent hyperglycemic episodes over the past 4 months. She is 4 and small (not overweight). The doctor did a fasting insulin test and a glucose tolerance test. She actually did well on the gtt--80 fasting and 82 after 2 hours.

HOWEVER, she has had over 7 postprandial bg numbers over 200 at home in the past 2 weeks. She always comes back down on her own eventually. Her high blood glucose really appears to come and go. Some days good and other days she can go really high.

Her fasting insulin, however, was 1.4, and that seems very low to me. The nurse said normal was 1.7 to 22 and online it indicates that 5-20 is typical. The doctor said that only high numbers matter and a high number would indicate insulin resistance. Since it was low and out of the normal range he was unconcerned. Is it true that the low level means nothing? Even in light of her erratically high blood glucose numbers? Wouldn't low insulin also be an indication of a problem?

My blood sugar is always somewhere between 72 and 85 regardless of time of day or what I have eaten. I always crave sugar and NEED to eat it daily. Should I be worried?

I am not diabetic and I am thankful for that. Being someone who hasn't had to deal with this on a daily basis, I don't know if the lancets come with the monitors and all that stuff. The reason I want to know is because my biology class is doing an experiment with elimination, perricone, and schwarzbein diets to see if the diets make blood sugar and glucose levels go up or down and how that effects energy level. In order to check this we are to use the glucometers and all that stuff. I found a cheaper monitor that I can by at Walmart, but it would be kind of silly to get the monitor and not have the lancet. So if I need to get that separately it would be nice to know before I go shopping, and who better to ask than those people who deal with diabetic supplies routinely?!

Thanks!

I went into diabetic ketone acidosis in late Jan my blood sugar was 799. I have lost about 50 pound just by diet and excercise but for some reason twice a week I get up to around 270 and then I drop to 70 or under in less than a hour. They say theres nothing wrong with my meds.

I have had an unusual craving for chocolate lately. I am not pregnant. I rarely used to eat chocolate, but now find myself craving it daily. Is this a medical condition or should I worry about it?
