My blood sugar is always somewhere between 72 and 85 regardless of time of day or what I have eaten. I always crave sugar and NEED to eat it daily. Should I be worried?

I forgot to say that I am not diabetic and do not take any medications.

72-85 is on the lower end of the normal range. It wouldn't be considered hypoglycemia unless it's causing symptoms like shaky-ness, sweating, feeling weak, etc. Simply craving sugar isn't an indicator of hypoglycemia, but if you feel like you need it or you'll pass out, that sounds like a hypoglycemic reaction. Have your doctor do a fasting glucose and also, check your sugar about 1 hr after eating. If it stays low, just be sure to carry complex carbohydrates with you. They last a lot longer in the body than candy or other simple sugars!

I definitely concur that you should see your doctor about this. But, you don't specivy if you are diabetic, and, if so, whether type 1 or type 2. It's possible that you are getting too much medication, or that your diet needs to be adjusted. It's also possible that you suffer from reactive hypoglycemia. But the best person to do this is your physician. You're always better off seeking medical advice from a professional, who can exam you in person, rather than a perfect stranger on Yahoo Answers.

Perhaps watch your amount of insulin taken and eat a little bit more for every meal. Also consult your doctor.

you should ask your G.P. to set you up for a fasting blood sugar.
aGtt ( glucose tolerance test) and an insulin level serum test.

this should give you a clearer picture of what's ailing you and
maybe visit with a nutritionist.
