My sugars are tightly controlled, occaisionally high of course, but no ketones at all...
I do alot of anaerobic (muscle building) type excercises, but not very much aerobic excercise.
I am a little concerned because in the last week I have dropped almost 3 pounds (which is quite alot for me, my weight usually doesnt fluctuate more than half a pound) without any dieting or excercising...

Whats the deal?

Recently diagnosed as a diabetic. Am trying to control it with diet and lose some weight so I won't have to go on insulin. Anyone out there successful in doing this on diet alone? If so, could you offer some tips. Thanks so much.

In 2001 I had a minor operation. The next day (a weekend) my blood had ketones 4 + and was acid. Yes I had diabetic ketoacidosis. Nothing was done. (Yes I did sue and they admitted negligence) Apparently I was very close to death. My blood pressure was as stated above.
Is that blood pressure bad or very bad?
What could have happened if the medical emergency team had not worked so hard?

Presently there is alopathy, ayurvedic, siddah and many branches of cure for diabetics. But it appears all these forms are only controlling and not eliminating the deficiency. Is there any permanent remedy or will it become available to the universe at large shortly?

How did you find out you were diabetic? Has it changed your lifestyle? If so, how?

Please don't post information from articles, or links to them. I want to know what it's like to be diabetic, beyond what I can read in an article.

My mom has diabetes, and her side of the family has a history of having diabetes. While my dad dosn't.
Is it a 50% chance that i can have diabetes later on?
I'm 15 years old, Asian. I'm in good shape. Have no health problems that im aware of.
Is there anything possible that i can do at all to prevent developing diabetes? Or is it just chance, and i cant do anything about it.
I DONT WANT DIABETES.
Btw im becoming sorta lactose intolerant while the rest of my family isn't, does this link anything to diabetes? Just wondering.

My father is 64 years old & a diabetic patient since 12years. Since 1 year he was complaining of low-vision. His vision became worse after the laser treatment & now he is semi-blind. He can't even see our faces but yes he can see the lights & identify if they r on or off. Please let me know if there is a way by which we can improve his vision by atleast 10% or is there any operation/medications to cure the same???

On the one hand, one would think that a high-protein, low-carb diet would actually be the best diet for diabetics because meat, fish, and dairy products do not require (much) insulin and minimally impact resting blood sugar levels. On the other hand, one of the most common long-term complications from diabetes is kidney failure, and over time a protein-rich diet would place heavy demands on kidney functioning because of waste filtration of animal products. Any thoughts?
