I recently started using insulin for my Type 2 Diabetes and I am feeling much better both physically and mentally. I have been treated for depression for about 10 years and I have been able to reduce the amount of antidepressants I need since I started the insulin. Has anyone else noticed a change in their level of depression when beginning insulin?

My Husband had cateract surgery 7 years ago that went perfectly.

This morning He had the same surgery on the second eye. It did not go well. When they were ready to suction out the clouded lens, it fell into the back of the eye and it temporarily blinded him.
The vision is better since coming home but still very poor.

Next week He will have to have a more invasive eye surgery in the Hospital to correct the problem.

Has anyone every heard of this happening before? We are very comfortable with these Drs. But distressed at the moment.
He has seen this same group and the same Dr. for seven years.

I would be greatful for any input on this situation. Thanking you in advance for your responses.

At the time I was diagnosed I was not overweight, did not consume vast amounts of sugar, sugary foods, fat or junk foods.
I ate, as I always have, and still do, a healthy, balanced diet based on wholefoods, fruit and vegetables. I have never smoked and walked at least 5 miles 6 days a week.

My friend wants to know what are her cousins chances of getting diabetes? She is 11, she is pretty skinny, but she eats. A LOT. And hates vegetables. He grandfather and a few people before him had it. It skipped her cousin's dad and aunt. How could we get her to eat healthier, and what are her chances of getting diabetes?

My doctor ordered me bloodwork for fasting insulin. How is this different that a glucose tolerance test or a fasting glucose test?

I have not had a period in a long time and get really shaky sometimes like I need sugar. There is diabetes and prediabetes in my family, so he ordered this test. Will the fasting insulin only give him a picture of what is going on with my bloodsugar?

I asked a while ago but never really understood so I'm back at it.

Is the reason you are told to limit alcohol with Glucophage (metaphormin) really that your sugar might drop too low because wine lowers the blood sugar?
