I had a diabetes test the other day. The reading was 4.8 which the nurse said was fine. What reading is not fine and what is the optimum level for blood sugar?

When i have my glucose tolerence test dont they took my fasting blood sugar at 87 then gave me 100g glucose when i had my blood drawn only 1 hour after it was down to 63. My doctor is waiting for my insulin levels to come back. How does your sugar drop after drinking that much. The 2 and 3 hour levels were fine

I have a friend who got a tatoo on her calf around mid February. She has not responded well to the three different antibiotics; the wound is not healing well. She has an HMO, and I feel that they are not being as aggressive as they should be with her treatment. The area swells, and is so painful that she limps after walking for a bit.
Also, I strongly suspect that she did not inform the artist that she was diabetic, which she should have done. I know most artists will not tattoo a diabetic below the knee. Does anyone have any experience with something like this. I am very worried about her.

His podiatrist says that a staph germ just randomly infected his toe, and that an antibiotic and soaking it with epsom salts twice a day will take care of it in a few weeks.

I'm concerned, because circulation problems due to his recently-diagnosed diabetes probably has a lot more to do with it, but I don't know enough to explain this well or properly. Help!

Lately his levels have been up and down. today it went down to 25.
he is on some kind of pill to control the high level. don't know the name, sorry.
i am concerned about the low levels and the fact that the levels are fluctuating so much.
we are going to call the doctor tomorrow morn. just wondering about how low is too low?

Lantus users: do you take once or twice a day? (I've heard that it's not truly peakless and only lasts about 23 hours).

Detemir users: what have you noticed different from other long-acting insulins you've taken (especially Lantus, but also NPH)?

will this help with weight loss if your body isn't using insulin properly? I have heard this but I'd like to know if anyone else has, or even better if anyone else has taken it for that reason.

I am monitoring my blood sugar level. I took fasting reading as 117 and then did one hour floor exercises without taking any food or drink. Soon thereafter the new reading increased by 25 points to 142. Where did the additional sugar come into the blood from for I remained in fasting state altogether. Also the boold came out with some pressure when I pricked it for the second reading after the exercises.
