I had a diabetes test the other day. The reading was 4.8 which the nurse said was fine. What reading is not fine and what is the optimum level for blood sugar?

My doctor advised me to have it done as I recently had an abcess in my groin area. The test was done 5 hours after my lunch (salad).

It really depends what test you had done. If you had, like has already been suggested, an HbA1c test, then this should be below 7% - however this measures your 'compliance' of your diet in controlling diabetes over the last 3 months. It doesn't sound like you've been diagnosed with diabetes?
Therefore you may have had a random glucose concentration test (which should be below 11.1mmols) or a fasting glucose concentration test (which should be below 7mmols). The usual glucose levels should be between 5 and 7. Anything below 4 would be considered a hypo (i.e. your sugars are too low and you may experience light headedness etc.). But 4.8 is fine.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/rRaPg

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Hi there,
Not totally easy to answer but here goes..

If testing on an empty stomach (In the morning before food), good range is between 4 and 7.

If testing after food, (Approx 1 to 1.5Hrs) it is between 4 and 11.

I Wouldn't get worried by your test, it's right in the normal range..

What made you think of getting a test? Are you otherwise healthy?

you had an A1c done, correct? Alc's range from 5.0 to 9.0 If you're a "controled" diabectic it is below 6.5. Alc's tell how good your blood sugars hhave been over the past 6 or so months. You do not have diabetes, right. 4.8 is not a blood sugar number it is the result of your bs numbesr. In this case this is a very good A1c. Good Question!

Your test is great - it shouldv'e been between 3.5 and 7.5. She would have been testing if your pancreas is working or not which would be similar to type 1 diabetes, so when you've last eaten wouldn't have stopped the test showing diabetes. Don't worry! Hope you're better from your abcess xx

A reading of 4.8 would seem to be OK for you. Your readings should be around 6. Higher than that is not good but for short periods not harmful. The important thing is to keep the average readings in the area of 6.

Sugar levels vary depending on time of day and when and what we last eat. Up to 6.6 is OK for an overnight fast level and 10mm/l for a check 2 hours after a meal.
