Yes, you can get pregnant, I did.
But it is very important to make sure your blood sugars are under control, because women who have diabetes have a higher risk of miscarriage.
If you do get pregnant, you would be considered a high risk pregnancy, and would need to be monitored very closely, and also may need your medications adjusted, because some of the diabetes medications can lead to birth defects(Glucophage for one).
One of the biggest risks of diabetes and pregnancy is that you may have a very large baby(10lbs and over), which has it's own complications.
Other than that, if your diabetes is being managed, and you are otherwise healthy, you can have a child.
As for me, I suffered a miscarriage at 6 weeks because my sugar was not under control (my A1c was 378 or 21 if you're Canadian), but I am getting it back under control so I can try again.
I hope this helps, and I do wish you the best of luck.

Yes and yes, pregnant women with diabetes need to be followed very closely by a health care practitioner to ensure that the blood sugar of the baby is within normal limits.

If you are insulin dependent and are not already on a pump, check into getting one before you get pregnant. You will be able to maintain much better control of your blood sugars on a pump.
You need to hook up with a diabetic educator/dietician. That type of medical support will be the most helpful to you during your pregnancy.

Well there would be no risks to the baby, other than the fact that it also has a strong chance of contracting the disease from the parents, since both of them have the disease...otherwie no PROBLEMS>>..

Yes. Also there is risk. Discuss wanting a baby with your physician beforehand so that you receive the care and oversight that you'll need for you and the baby during the pregnancy.
