Blood root is used in an escharotic formula for the removal of melanomas (skin cancer). It works great for that, and has been PROVEN in a court of law--TWICE--to work (yes, in America). The full story can be found in the book, "When Healing Becomes a Crime", about the Hoxey cancer cure.
I haven't seen anything that would suggest using bloodroot internally.
To remove toxins and other troublesome impurities from the blood, I now use stillingia and red clover blossoms in a tea. I include peppermint and a little spearmint too, for flavor.
When I first started using natural products, I used a formula handmade by a professional herbalist.
There are several on line--the one I dealt with was Annette@Herbs2yourhealth.com , and I found her very knowledgeable and easy to work with, and willing to go through the mail--and she has a blood pruification formula that works great.
Best of luck.

Your Kidneys clean your blood, you don't need anything else that may prove to be toxic. The human body is an amazing piece of machinery. If you are eating properly you don't need any additives.
