My sugars are tightly controlled, occaisionally high of course, but no ketones at all...
I do alot of anaerobic (muscle building) type excercises, but not very much aerobic excercise.
I am a little concerned because in the last week I have dropped almost 3 pounds (which is quite alot for me, my weight usually doesnt fluctuate more than half a pound) without any dieting or excercising...
Whats the deal?

1. Are thyroid problems hereditary? Because my aunt has HYPOthyroidism...
2. Is it possible that I could have hyperthyroidism even though my genetics favour both hypothyroidism and obesity?
3. It is possible that I be suffering from some kind of virus, because I have gotten colds before with absolutely no symptoms.

Everyone here is giving you good advice -- talk to your doctor about it. It could well be an effect of increased medication to exercise, or there could be an underlying condition. it could aslo be that, because of your increased anaerobic exercise, that you've built up muscle mass, which burns more calories than fat. Your increased muscle mass may well have led to increased metabolism. But, you should definitely talk to your doctor, in case tehre are any adjustments your doctor might want to make to your treatment regimen (I.E. medication change, or dietary changes, such as increasing caloric intake). Hope this helps!

Hey, I'm also a type1 diabetic! Maybe you are using up all your stored fat because you don't have enough calories that your body needs. If you are body building then you need to check with a dietitian to see if you need to increase your calories and/or increase your protein. Remember diabetes control depends upon diet, activity and exercise. If any of these vary even slightly, your offset. Have you checked your HgA1c lately? I have a hunch you need to increase your proteins. Please don't make any changes without talking to your MD and a dietitian.

This same thing happened to a co-worker of mine. He got on a new type of medication and did away with his insulin, over the course of 6 months he lost over 30 pounds. Different medications react differently in your body. The effect that his medication had on him was an increased metabolism. He ate and exercised the same as he had always but his metabolism was able to process more fatty calories and do away with it.

It may just be the exercise catching up with you, or maybe your body is feeling the effects of a cold or other virus. Wait it out another week and if you find the scale is still creeping down, get yourself to your doctor. They may need to make mroe altercations to your diet.
Good luck!

Maybe you should check with your doctor. That kind of weight loss without explanation could be a sign of a problem with your insulin. You may not be absorbing enough nutrients from your food.
