When I first started taking it I had to go to the bathroom a lot and have some upset stomach issues. Remember to take it WITH FOOD. Negative side effects went away in less than 2 weeks for me.

I've been on Metformin for years..the darn doc just keeps upping it. Seriously - I have never really noticed any side effect...other than a wee issue with the sulphur that is in it..P U. - I do always have dry mouth, but didn't realize this was a metformin side effect.

I've been on Metformin for less than a month but my side effects have been extreme thirst and nausea if I don't take it with a glass of milk. I was taking it at night but would wake up so thirstly that I switched to mornings. As long as I take it with milk (or food) I have very few side effects. It also seemed to make me tired at first but that is subsiding.

As u said one of the side effects of metformin is vomiting as it leaves a mettalic taste in the mouth. That is because of the molecular property of the drug. Also one another side effect of metformin is bloating and u wudnt feel more hungry as u used to. As a result of this effect of metformin, many doctors also prescribe it for obesity maagement even in non-diabetics and Gynaecologists use it for their PCOS(Poly cycstic ovarian syndrome) patients.

I have been on Metformin for 3 months. The only side effect I have had is dry mouth. I was on Glucophage once and it made me vomit if I didn't eat something first. You should probably tell your doctor. He/She may need to change your medicine.

It once made me itch. The funny thing was, I switched to the generic brand which is actually made by the same company - and I was fine!
