does anyone else have the problem of getting up during the night. My fluid intake before bedtime is minimal. Am newly diagnosed and believe that diabetes could be the culprit in disturbing my sleep even as much as three to four times a night. I must add that my diabetes is very well controlled. Would appreciate comments. Many thanks

First it was my right pointer finger, and now its the left middle finger. I was told 2 years ago that I have fibromialgia, but I don't know if there's a connection. I also had diabetes with my last pregnancy and have heard that when you have diabetes you have problems with your hands and feet...? Both sets of grandparents had diabetes, so I am pretty much looking at getting it. Anyone had similar problems?

My blood sugar level was at 360 last week with blurred vision and my doctor prescribed Fortamet HC 500mg once a day. The following week it was 325. She then suggested I take Fortamet twice a day and an insulin shot every morning. I have since then eliminated foods with any form of sugar, eat only baked meats, salads, cereal, steamed veggies, and fresh fruits. Although my vision has returned to normal, I don't think I'm doing enough. Any diabetics out there have any suggestions?

Hi, I am 27 type 1 diabetic for almost 10 yrs. I have not had a problem with high blood sugar levels for 8 yrs or so. I think I am having that probelm today. Woke up this morning had a reading of 315 took my morning dose hasnt gone down. I am tired, slight headache, dry mouth shortness of breath and seem to be having a hard time catching my breath. I have been ill with a bad chest cold. I am at work and cant get to the pharmacy till later to get some strips to check for ketones but it has me worried. Was wandering when should emergancy care be needed for high blood sugar? Should I call the doc now or see if things improve later in the day?

My mother has Type 2 diabetes (was only diagnosed in her late 50s) and is taking medication to lower her blood sugar levels.

I heard that green tea can "wash out" any existing medicines in the body. How true is this? So will she be able to drink green tea then? She currently does not drink any green tea but I do (tea leaves imported directly from China) and thought maybe she could try some.

They say that when pure (unadulterated) honey is ingested, it is not digested (because it is already digested naturally) and therefore does not go to the blood stream and therefore one's blood sugar will not rise. Please enlighten me.

A friend of mine gave me this formula: boil 3 cups of water, put one tablespoon of cinnamon powder and two bags of green tea; allow to cool down. Take 1/4 glass of it 3 times a day and voila, you will have long, vigorous life plus good control of your blood sugar. How true is this?
