So, since about 3 months 4 months ago I've been experiences frequent urination. At the beginning, it was a little more severe, as I had to go sometimes every 20 minutes, unless I stopped drinking water...even then, I had to urinate eventually.

I went to the dr. and they did a urinalysis, which showed no glucose in it. A few days later I went again, and they did a glucose test (non-fasting), and it came out at 133, which I've read is normal for non-fasting, random tests.

The strange thing is that it goes away at times, there are days when I can drink and eat anything (caffeine, sugar), and I will be okay. Other days, however, if I drink a cup of water I have to go to the bathroom 3 times after it.

I can't really seem to find what makes it better or worse...although during rainy/cold days it seems to appear more.

I havent been back to the dr. because it's expensive and I have no insurance.

I'm afraid I have Diabetes Type 2...but can it appear at intervals?

Is there anyway that he can even obtain health insurance and the insurance company will cover him. We can not afford 300.00 a month on health insurance.

Hello all,
I have gestational diabetes and today I am due at the clinic for them to start me on Insulin Therapy.
What will happen when I am at the clinic? What will they need to do to me??? How do they make sure they are giving me the right dose?
Thanks all. From a nervous 29 week pregnant lady!

A close relative believes that since she is taking insulin to keep her blood sugar where it needs to be, she can eat cookies and candy and drink sugary sodas just as she always has. So far, she has shown no health problems from this. But it flies in the face of what I thought about diabetes: that anyone with diabetes serious enough to require injections also requires dietary controls/modification.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this issue/question?

In advance, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have Type 2 Diabetes and am thinking about trying Weight Watchers Point program. However, I know that the program bases their "points" on a variety of factors such as calories, fat, etc. I've been told to watch my carbs since the body turns carbs into glucose. Can anyone help on this subject??

OK, I'm a new diabetic (type2.) I know there's a direct link between carbohydrate intake and blood sugar increase. But here's my diet for 2 days - 30 grams of carbs on day 1, 30 on day 2, yet my first reading for day 3 shows an increase of like 20 overnight with no carb intake in between? How?

Just to give a little background: diabetes is in my family history, I'm 27 and I'm clinically obese for my height (I'm a size 16-18). If I wait too long to eat, I get very shaky, so I try to eat something small every few hours. Sometimes I will wake up and have this shaky feeling, and on occasion have tingling in my feet (which can be a sign). I was tested a couple of years ago and it was negative, but I know with my family history and weight I'm at high risk.

So what can I do to turn it around? I know right off losing weight will be a huge help, but I'm unsure of what I should focus on when it comes to a lifestyle change of healthy eating? Do I need to steer clear of all sugars? I will not follow any "no carb" diet, so please don't suggest it, as complex carbs are vital to one's energy. I will take any suggestions for a complete lifestyle change (food and otherwise) to avoid this disease. Serious answers only please- and site your sources (if any). Thanks :)

Did anyone happen to here that Splenda contains a Molecule that is really a pesticide? That during testing of the product it caused "shrunkenThymus Glands & enlarged Kidney and Livers" in test rats. That the FDA stated that " the findings weren't conclusive enough to stop the production." The claim is that they are using humans for their guinea pigs.
Why would the FDA do this? Why would the Splenda company do this w/o warning the public on at least a news report or a newspaper report. I am a Diabetic with a weak Kidney in the first place and I am outraged that they are taking my life into thier hands. diabetics already hav prob. with those organs. It almost seems like if someone were to die from an enlarged kidney they would say oh well its only one it'll take a lot more than that to make us stop. What really ticks me off is that they are advertising it to my kids. Shouldn't the company have to put this on the box...in bold, where you can see it? I know it's not on the box I have.

In case you are wondering, here is a link to it. I heard that it is better for you than regular sugar. That is won't effect your blood sugar like cane or beet sugar will. I am not diabetic, but my father and his side is. He likes it and uses it. I just wanted to know if anyone else likes it, your experiences with it, and any recipes you might have.
