My mother is working two jobs, one of which she continues to work at because of the medical insurance. My mother is ready to slow her life down and give up her job that is providing med insurance. My mother is diabetic, and it is improbable she can be accepted for regular insurance with her condition. How can she get what she wants; stay covered permanently, and leave the job where she is getting coverage now? She lives in California.

Please, I really don't need random people trying to give an answer or be the hero of the day by making something up to get two points. Please, this is very important, and I really need honest answers.

i'm diabetic and he told me that insulin comes from animals and that i'm killing animals. i'm a vegetarian b/c of animals and now i feel guilty about the insulin. will there ever be a cure for diabetes where ur pancreas can start working or where u dont need to use insulin from animals? i cried for and hour and can barely get over it.

Hi, I am a 24 year old girl. I have had type 1 diabetes for 20 years. I was told I was geting complications 2 years ago. Diabetic Retinopathy. But yesterday I went ofr my yearly check up at the opthalmic surgeon he said it has progresed alot and that I will need to have laser surgery in less than 2 weeks.
I am terified of going blind, I hav looked after myself as best I could have, and have just started a five year double university degree. I feel like whats the point..
DOES THE LASER HURT? and how can I cope with this when I start to loose my vision. I'm not sure I can live in a world of darkness.
I know that there are so many people out there alot worse off than me but that thought really is not helping me at the moment.

I'm really so affraid, please give me some advise?

headaches almost daily, irritable and major attitude at times (very uncharacteristic of her-beyond typical tennager attitude) for about 2 months-but episodes of shaky hands, numbness and tingly face, lightheadedness, blurry vision and shortly after says feels funny (the other symptoms started about 2 weeks ago) (when asked to decribe...she basically describes drunk but doesn't know what that feels like to call it that) she is very athletic and has been a distance runner for about 5 yrs. running 3 to 6 miles until about 6 months ago and she can barely handle a mile. Awaiting lab results told be in about 4 days. They did a fasting blood test. Got a home meter and Yesterday 1 1/2 hours after lunch and a shake it was 190 at 2 hrs and 15 min it was 107. Bed time last night it was 96.This morning before eating or drinking her reading was 115. They started with diabetic screen-even if its not this there is something wrong! Any possible abswers would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where I can find a decent downloadable or e-book version of the various fast food exchange values for diabetic meal planning at popular fast food places?

I am a pre-diabetic with frequent hypoglycemia. I improved my eating habits; eat protein bars in between meals. I have seen many doctors, but none want to help me or acknowledge that I was diagnosed pre-diabetic in the past. I got the shakes twice today, they are unpredictable and dangerous (especially if I drive). What can I do? Is there over the counter stuff I can take to help me stabilize my blood sugar? It is taking a toll on me, I have tried various diets and it results to hypoglycemia

Thank you

I have a friend who is a diabetic and has been since she was 3. She's 25 now. She takes insulin shots, and hasn't gotten a pump just yet. She's been prone to have diabetic seizures when her blood sugar gets really low, and in times when her stress level is high.

Sometimes when she has a seizure, she completely forgets what has happened in either the last few days or sometimes the last week. For example, she has a seizure on Wednesday and when she becomes alert again she will think that it's Monday and not remember anything she did on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Well this past week, the week of April 1st, 2007, she had a seizure at night on Sunday night and then had another one on Monday morning. When she was alert again, she couldn't remember anything since the month of December. And she still can't remember anything, and today is Wednesday.

I guess my question is, is this something that happens to other diabetics? And will she ever remember that time span?
