The act of donating does not really affect the donor one way or the other. You drink some extra fluids. That's about it. Benefits? Free cookies!

I used to get a pint of ice cream for donating. Besides that donating blood forces your body to refresh it's blood supply,, so it's kinda cleans out the old blood if you will.

well, if you donate blood your the blood that you have lost (for a good benefit) will be replaced. and that is very good. I don't think you will put on weight if you donate blood.
