Simple Answer ..

Eating less fried food or eating lots of fruits.. regular walking ..exercise.. bala bala...these all are good health habits... diabetes or no diabetes...


Every one should follow these to live healthy..

Yes your doc should help you with that.

Two things in my humble experience: first it is ultimately your responsibility to learn about the disease and get control of it before it does any serious damage.

There are lots of resources to help. A new one is http://www.diabetesinfoforyou.com

Second, most GP docs are really not too helpful when it comes to diet as it relates to diabetes.

Low/no carbs, no sugar, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, no trans fats are the basics. Your local Hospital may have some resources-give them a call too.

There are books on the subject. The American Diabetes Assoc. can help. If all else fails hire a dietitician.

Don't mistake this answer as saying you are own your own because you are not. You need the right folks on your team right from the start.

Having diabetes doesn't mean that you have to start eating special foods or follow a complex diabetes diet plan. Generally speaking, you need to eat a variety of foods in moderate amounts and stick to regular mealtimes.

You need to eat a diet that focuses on vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Choose a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories.

A low GI diet and try and stay away from High GI foods.
Sweet potato is an excellent low GI food.
Anything that is processed heavily is bad for diabetics also.
Example Processed cold meat and White bread is very bad.
Wholemeal bread is very good.

Sorry to hear you have type 2 diabeties, try to eat less fat like fried food, you can have baked potatoe with sour cream no butter, if you do walking everyday and eat sensible, you can stop having type 2 diabeties. Lots of cheese and veggies

The doctor who diagnosed you should have given you dietary guidelines. If he/she did not, call and ask for them. Are you seriously going to follow advice from strangers on the internet about something that affects your health?
