There are many ways of treating peripheral neuropathy....meaning no one way is the best.
The first problem is to find out what is causing the neuropathy and treat that. There are a list of 20+ things besides diabetes that can cause neuropathy.
Medications can help such as Cymbalta (an anti-depressant that has effects on neurotransmitters,) neurontin (a medicine for seizures and shingles) and its newer cousin lyrica (for peripheral neuropathy and shingles.) I'm not as sure of the effects of cymbalta as I prescribe that if the other two don't work too well. If your painful neuropathy had a volume knob, the neurontin and lyrica kind-of turn down the volume on the pain.
Other medical treatments include pain medications and sleep meds.
Infrared light therapy is starting to become more popular and I have seen patients benefit from it. (Anodyne)
An oldie but a goodie is capsasin or zostrix cream. The problem is you have to apply it 3-4 times a day like clockwork. Also, don't touch your eyes, mouth, or bathroom parts after using it without washing your hands....its made out of a hot pepper extract.
In extreme cases surgery may help by decompressing the nerve.
Go see a podiatrist or pain management doctor. They should be able to help you out.

This web site has a lot of good information about different types of treatments:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/peripheral-neuropathy/DS00131/DSECTION=8
One of the most difficult parts of neuropathy can be pain. Not all doctors are experts in treating neuropathic pain -- which is quite different from regular old pain -- so if you feel that your doctor is not one of those, you might look into going to a pain clinic or seeing a pain specialist. They should be familiar with all the different medications and modalities used in treating this type of pain. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Whether it is diabetic or non-diabetic, peripheral neuropathy can be treated by Tablets of B12 and zinc and if needed injections of Neurobion Forte or Eldervit. Specialist consultation is needed if these don't help.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.
