My mother has Type 2 diabetes (was only diagnosed in her late 50s) and is taking medication to lower her blood sugar levels.

I heard that green tea can "wash out" any existing medicines in the body. How true is this? So will she be able to drink green tea then? She currently does not drink any green tea but I do (tea leaves imported directly from China) and thought maybe she could try some.

Number one, there's no harm in drinking green tea. There are claimed benefits such as metabolic increase and fat reduction, but beyond that, I'm not sure. You mother might benefit from some of what has helped me. Visit my diabetes info page:

You are liable to diabetes you probably have a blood sugar stage over 126. And you'll be able to get diabetes if that stage reaches round two hundred. Overall if you are feeling unwell and also you feel that is because of the probability of getting diabetes you will have to move to the medical professional for a checkup. This is an excessively severe challenge that demands to be addressed instantly if displaying signs and will also be probably lifestyles threatening if long gone untreated. In your case try to keep off top sugared beverages/meals and be certain to consume whilst you are hungry because it might simply be an difficulty along with your consuming.

i asked my doctor and nutritionist the same question. you can drink as much as green tea as you want as long as it doesn't contain sugar or milk. if it does, then you should measure your tea intake and count sugars, proteins and carbohydrates just like the educator/doctor told your mother too.

one thing: there isn't any evidence that green tea helps people with diabetes, but there is evidence that green tea helps in general. this is due to the low level of radical groups in this kind of tea.

Green tea is not going to do anything to your mom's diabetic medication. She will get the same benefit from it as you do. Godloveya.
