Okay, I just learned to use this glucose reader that a drug rep gave me. I did a test to make sure I am using it correctly. My number is 129. I ate dinner about 2 1/2 hours ago.

Is this a normal number? I cannot find anywhere on the directions to this thing what a normal number is.

I will not eat/drink tonight and will do this again in the morning. What "should" normal numbers be then?

Yes, I know I need to see a doctor and I will book an appt. asap. Until then, I would like some knowledge. First of all, I am NOT overweight. I am 35, 5.10" and a very normal weight. I had a child in 1995 and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I was told that later in life this could result in type II Diabetes. My "symptoms" are: I am having a very hard time controlling my blood sugar. I get so low at times that I come close to passing out. Other times I crave sugar as if if were the only food source on the planet. It seems like I cannot get enough sugar (I try NOT to indulge). I am thirsty ALL of the time. My b/f complains that when we buy groceries we only come out with beverages. I get up like 3-4 times a night to pee and my ankles are always swollen. I exercise fairly regularly, but I'm still always very very tired. I sleep a lot. My grandmother had a mild case, but no other relatives that I know of (she took some kind of pill).
Can anyone out there identify with me?

I am thinking that i should proly go to the ER since all the stuff i am doing at home is not working. Does this sound like I might be going into DKA?

I'm in recovery for anorexia, currently seeing a nutritionist and counselor. I am on the diabetic exchange meal plan. My nutritionist said I need to up my fat servings (most days I don't eat any fat, a couple times a week I do allow myself peanut butter and chocolate chips) Besides the obvious oils, are there any other healthy, and tasty, fat options?

I make Sweet tea. I use two cups of sugar to two gallons of water. I want to share this with my friend but he is diabetic and we can not determine the amount of insulin he has to take based off this. is there a link or does anyone know how much he should take. I mean he is not drinking the entire two cups so how do you figure this out.

Is there any ethical issues in gene therapy to cure diabetes. This is where they take insulin genes from a donor and inject them into a diabetic so they can produce their own insulin.

My friend is 22 years (Male) old and found diabatic for the first time. Somebody suggested that this can be controlled by proper food and exercise without taking medicines. Is it possible. If so, please suggest the food items that can be taken and exercises he has to do. He is a pure vegetarian and living in South India.

I've been on glipizide (low dose: 1.25mg BID) for 2 years with pretty good control but it makes me always hungry and headachy. I decided to switch to metformin (500mg BID) a few days ago, thinking it would make me less prone to hypoglycemia. However, the hunger and headache are worse yet I think I'm more thirsty. (Needless to say, I don't test.) Obviously I need to suck it up and do some testing, but shouldn't metformin make me less likely to hypo?

So yeah, I got a box of those ThermaCare HeatWraps for this pain on my neck.
I am diabetic and I just realized the box said "Ask a doctor before use if you have diabetes."
I really dont want to ask my doctor, but can anyone tell me if there's any higher risks of use for a diabetic or whatever?
