7.8 isn't bad! When I was a teenager I had one at 16.4...not good at all.
If you are taking care of your blood sugars now, that is all you can do. The reason for the test is to look at average b/s control for the past 3 - 4 months. You have 6 weeks or so until your next appointment. Keep your blood sugars in control and you should be okay.
It takes practice and years of patience before you finally "master" it and then your body is changing again.
19 years diabetic and loving it!

I am a diabetic too. Once I first was identified, my A1C was once up to 8%. In not up to a yr, I've obtained it down to five.Eight%. I take my drugs daily, don't consume late, NO SUGAR at all. You have got to be taught to read the labels whilst you keep, when you do not already. Are attempting growing your jogging to a faster % for a longer period of time. Lessen to your carbs too. Simply on account that some thing says sugar free, doesn't suggest it can be low in carbs. If you're now not conscious of what an A1C studying is: The existence span of a crimson blood phone is roughly ninety days. When your physique would not destroy down insulin safely, or in any respect, the sugar will "stick" to the red blood cells. Once they look on the purple blood cells and measure them, they're kind of watching "back in time" to peer how good your body is utilising sugar/glucose in the course of that 90 day period. You also ought to manage your ldl cholesterol too. Having excessive triglycerides doesn't help the difficulty and the whole thing may also be thrown off by 1 bad thing. I'm hoping this helps you. Simply keep in mind, cut out all sugar and drink lots and plenty of WATER. Good good fortune to you

I cut out real "pop" and kool-aid. I like my food but moderation works for me. No alcohol. Greens are supposed to help. As you know an A1C is a 90 day measurement, so its more accurate than a fingerstick, pertaining to how well controlled your diabtes is. Shoot for 7 or less if you're diabetic and 6 if not. Don't just not eat thats not good for your body or your diabetes at all.

I hate to disagree, but you can lower it, just not much. EXERCISE, lots of WATER, limited NATURAL sugars and did I mention EXERCISE? Trust me, I'm going through the same thing.. My appointment is November and if I don't get mine down it's insulin for me and I certainly don't want that. I have found Splenda to be the best alternative to Sugar. They also have Splenda in brown sugar so that you can bake those sinful cookies. Good luck!

HbA1c%, as you probably know is a measure of the average sugar level within the red cells in your blood, the trick here is that a normal red cell (erytrocyte) lives for 120 days (+-) so your physician can know if you are behaving yourself or not with sugar for the past 3-4 months....there is no way you can lower that % in time for your next visit. sorry!

diabetes changed my life, I look at food and limit myself to what works for my diet and what makes me filled. I buy quality whole grain bread 15 carbs. I buy the really good cuts of turkey. I like albacore tuna and kim chee on wholegrain with a little mayo. But soups like veg/lentil in the eve. help satisfy me. And I picked berries mixed yougert and oj and froze this in ice cube trays for a treat in the am. (martha stewart recipe) Anyway, excerise and get on board eating quality and right.

Stop eating sugar. It's causing your headaches. That's no reason to keep eating it. That's called addiction.
Start exercising and improving your control by careful watch of your diet, built around a schedule that does not change.
