Absolutely.
If you can, I urge you do to so. There is a very critical need for all blood types as of this writing.
Diabetics have to be very vigilant about sugar levels both before and after the donation. Take a glucose meter with you so that you can monitor your sugar. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids following the donation. Follow all protocols for the blood bank.
I'm type 1 and I have given blood many times without incident. Only once did I get sick and have to go to the ER.

Yes they can. For several years I have been donating every time eligible. Type 2 diabetic on meds. I have O negative blood type so they really like me.

Hmmm...now this is interesting....I am Type I diabetic and I have always been told I cannot give blood.....I know the Red Cross says its ok, but .....I'm not sure....

my dad does he has had diabetes for 40 plus years. they will check you iron level. i can not because i am on anti rejection drugs.

yes you go to the bank and show them ilst of meds you take and they may say that you have to stop one for three days and you can give.
