I would be very happy if anyone out here can suggest a good brand & / or model. I tried Omron but seems like they do not make one. Thanks!

My Freestyle Flash works fine and it's easy to use. Now, if they could just get the price of the strips down.....

I don't know about one that is specifically for that purpose alone. I do know however about a new product that is on the market. It is not being advertised yet. It is the "Omnipod Diabetes Management System". You can go to the web site at
www.myomnipod.com
It is a great product. I have met many people that use it. I also used to make it not too long ago. I hope that helps!

I use Accu Check and am satisfied. Look for one that will let you use blood from the forearm as there are fewer pain sensors there.

None of the meters use more than a tiny drop of blood, so that's not the issue. You want speed and accuracy and to be able to avoid fingertips as much as you can.

Your friend needs to talk to their insurance carrier, if they have one. Insurance companies work deals with the manufacturers so that strips may be cheaper from one company over another. You want the meter which you can get the cheapest strips for.

my mom uses One Touch, she hasn't had any troubles at all out of it, and it doesn't require a whole lot of blood.
