My boyfriend has Diabetesand he doesn't take good care of himself. He doesn't check his blood on a regular basis and he drinks regular pop and has all the wrong things. Mood swings are a problem and he acts different day to day. I guess I want to know how to handle someone like that. He is good to me but sometimes crabby!

the eye told me that in the event of a retinal bleed into the eye that they would perform a vitrectomy which involes cutting the scab away from the retina, draining blood out of the vitreous and putting laser directly onto the eye.he seemed to get very excited by this last and why did he not spell out that this involved frying the leaky new vessels while he was inside the eye and thus precluding any further bleeding
it would have encouraged me enormously to know that subject to keeping hte sugar levels under control that effectively the problem would disappear at that point

The problem with kicking him out is that he has diabetes really bad with blood sugars over 400 every day, he has no health insurance so he is just, well, I guess slowly dying. He doesn't seem to understand about his diet, he eats anything. He is not overweight, on the contrary, 6' tall 160#. He lost all the weight probably from the keytones eating up his fat stores. He has passed out twice, maybe more, two times that he has told me about, from high glucose levels I am sure, because he complained of intense thirst prior to blackout.
This delimma is worse because he is not willing to comply with his diet or his medications that we get free from some pharmacutical companys. I am almost bankrupt and getting depressed. I try to motivate him to get a job , so he will have something to do with his time and keep himself out of trouble, but he just seems lazy or doesn't care. I work full time and very hard too. I am living pay check to paycheck. Do I kick him out?

My brother passed away today, I want to say to all the Diabetics out there, take care of yourselves and go to a doctor as early and as often as possible. My brother died from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar from Type 1 Diabetes) and a massive heat stroke. I am now an only child because of this and I do want to see other's suffering as I am suffering right now. My brother did not have to go like this and now I am left asking,"Why?"

I was diagnoised with diabetes type II, but haven't started any medication yet that my doctor has put me on. Since my diagnoises, I've been cutting out sugars to maybe at most 1 to 5mg a day and the same for carbs. I've dropped from 267 to 250 in two weeks. I eat a healthy lunch which consists of a salad, couple of small portions of meat, lots of veggies and a glass of tea with sweet-n-low. I towards the evening time I have large salad w/tomatoes, celery, carrots, bacon bits (small amount) and oil and vinegar. I'll usually have a 3 egg beater omellet w/diced ham and vegetables for breakfast. After two weeks of eating like this, my glucose has dropped from 230 to and is stabilizing around 104 to 130. My skin seems to be changing and looks and feels smother and I'm zipping in and out of places with lots of energy. I'm I doing this right? Are those acceptable blood sugar ranges that will not hurt my body? i.e. eyes, feet ect

Ok, I am a 20 yrs. old, I have had diabetes for 6 yrs. now and have not been able to control it ever since I was diagnosed. Only when I am in the hospital am I able to control my blood sugar levels. I am type II but insulin dependant due to the fact it is uncontrolled. I live in FL where Medicaid (I have low income and qualify) was denied to me twice because they say I must be under 18, over 65 or pregnant. I am way too young to die and I cannot hold a job when I am always dizzy and fainting due to my illness as much as I have tried, I don't want to seem irresponsible. Is there any loophole as to a person like me getting medicaid in FL? I really am fearing for my life. I just need a temporary boost from the government... If they could only give it to me atleast til my sugar is controlled and I can take it from there and get a job and get my own medications that would be great. I take glucophage, insulin (R and NPH), lisinopril (for HBP and for my Kidneys havent taken any meds in 1 yr.)

I have heard a new drug is already sold in France, but yet not aproved by FDA in the US, to cure high cholesterol, diabetes, and other symptoms related to obese people. I would like to know which lab is producing it and its commercial brand name.

Heat, as in a hot summer day, for example. If so, could you share the reason how it affects blood sugar levels. What about fever?
