I am a type 2 diabetic who is 50 years old. I am suppose to be taking 4 shots of insulin per day. I stopped taking my insulin about 2 months ago. I have found that if I eat a balanced meal and have an exercise plan, fit to my age and ability, I feel better than if I were still taking the insulin. I was diagnosed in 1990 as being a diabetic. I have 2 brothers who are diabetic. They both still take insulin.
I have other medical conditions. I suffer from the Factor V APC Resistance blood disease, I have been labelled bi-polar and obsessive/compulsive.
I do keep my doctor's appointments and also my lab work appointments. I am on Coumadan ( a blood thinner) for the Factor V Disease, because this disease causes blood clots to form inside of blood cells. I have damage in my brain because of this disease. But that is not why I stopped my insulin!
It affects short and long term memory, and makes it so that I cannot work anymore. I take many medications that cause me not to be able to work also.
I feel better now, concerning the diabetes than I ever have. I still take my blood sugar level tests 4 times a day. As long as my reading is within normal limits, I don't take any insulin. They have been normal since I stopped taking the insulin, due to meal changes and other factors.

I am a type 1 diabetic for over 29 years,on average I feel very sick.
Other health concerns: Diabetic at 15, Stage 3 cancer at 18, Blind at 41, Heart attacks at 40,41,46 & 47. Broken bones many times. Neuro pains in every part of the body OH and now on end stage renal support (dialysis) no transplant allowed because of the heart failure
Out look: I know I won't get to live a nice long life so I try to make every minute count.
It is not true, that if you take good care of your self that nothing bad will happen I take very good care of my self and I still got ALL of it!

I'm honestly confused about what type. That's sad I know. I think I'm type 2 but I was 13 when I was diagnosed. I'm not insulin dependent, so I'm gonna go with Type 2. I'm 19 now and most of the time I feel good when I watch what I eat but I get upset sometimes and go on these kinda mood swings where I don't accept it because I live in Louisiana and lots of things the south is known for I'm not supposed to have but it doesn't take long for me to come back to my senses. I don't have any other health problems.

I am a "newly" diagnosed Type 2. I found out at the end of June of this year.
I am on oral meds (amaryl & glucophage) and am trying to contol with diet & exercise (so far I have lost over 30 pounds, so I am happy about that!).
I am still trying to get my BS under control and it is lower and lower all the time. I am still extremely tired, but other than that... =)
