In june 0f 2006 i was diagnoised as type II after a oral glucose test 1hr. reading of 214 and 2nd hr reading of 208. that morning i smoked ciggarettes before the test and was highly stress(concerns of the un-x-plained weight loss) i. have since stopped smoking and drinking alcohol. i have had 2 a1c first was 5.6 in june and 5.5 in july. i was on metformin for acouple of days, i experinced low blood sugars and was told ,since my levels seemed to be undercontrolled ;i could stop the metfoirmin. i nce weighed 214-211 lbs. in may of '06. in june i was around 188, now aug. 06 i am 176. i was told once it was controlled that i would regain soe of my weight back . i know to controll diabetes you need to controll your diet. but since i have never dieted but only changed my eating habits is there something else that's causing the weight loss. i have taken an HIV test results were neg. and labs cbc, comp met pan. lip. tsh. in june '06. but has any other type II had the un X plained weight loss.

Last week I was diagnoised with type II diabetes. I weighed in at 267 pounds. My glucose reading was 230 (normal is 107 or below). Since then I've cut out sugar completely as well as carbs. It will be a little over week tomorrow and my weight is at 252, my sugar count has gone down dramatically. for example, today before dinner it was 108, 2 hrs after it was 128. It's getting lower. I haven't started the blood sugar medication my dr. put me on because I'm afraid it will make it go down really low. Am I really diabetic? My A1C was at a 9.7, normal is below 7. On my present course of weight loss and diet and judging from what I've wrote here, do you think it's possible to reverse the diabetes type II condition? and should i take the medication with the numbers I've mentioned here?

I hear Gatorade is like the worst thing anyone can drink. But out of desperation, I'm looking for what IS good for diabetics to drink that has electrolytes.

Thousands of people have sued the tobacco industry because their products caused cancer. My question is this: If the FDA approves the ingrediants in our foods and our foods are consumed daily by the public and these foods causes illnesses such as diabeties, obesity and cancer; then i'm curious why haven't consumers sued the government for this? If a person dies from diabeties complications, let's say type II (since that encompasses about 90 percent of diabeties today) wouldn't that in a sense be committing murder in an indirect passive way to the public? Keep in mind the tobacco industry, millions have died because of products this industry produces and it is approved as legal by the United States government. Those that have sued the tobacco industry, knew it was bad for them, they still sued and WON and even though we know sugar and other chemicals in our food are bad, they are consumed by the same people who may have less knowledge of nutrition yet still eat this approved food.

The clinic sent results to my obgyn but I have not heard from them. Looking on the internet none of the reasons for having ketones seem to be my problem. However have not been tested for diabetes. I will have health insurance in about 3 months so I would like to wait. I am afraid that if i do have diabetes the new insurance will not cover a preexisting condition. Do you know any other reason one might have ketones.?

When I got home my blood sugar was 159 which really surprised me and now a half hour later it's 215. What is going on? I really had a good workout, I walked at a constant brisk pace. I know this question has been asked before, but I never paid attention because this has never happened to me before. I'm freaking out.

I am diagnosed to be an IGT patient(pre diabetic). I also suffer from Rheumatoid arthritis occasionally and was under methotrexate treatment for two years (low dose). Is my weight loss attributed to diabetes/RA ? How can I reverse this without risk of increasing of blood sugar levels?

Ok. I Feel REALLY dumb posting and asking this but its gotten to the point where I have no where else to turn. I know alot about hypoglycemia and diabetes- I know plenty of people with them.I know what low blood sugar is like- I have suffered from it since I was a child. When I was young it wasnt bad- once every 3 months? Now its gotten to the point of 3-4 times a week. I always eat something and it goes back up and I stop shaking but its really irritating. Today I had a really bad episode, I was in tears... And it feels like it gets worse each day. Problem is I CANT go to my mom... I've tried and she doesnt seem to get it, and I dont know anyone I can go to. Plus I dont have insurance. Im 15. I dont drive yet, and I dont do my own appointments or anything. Plus im afraid that if I DO find a way to get tested, and I dont have anything wrong with me people will think im faking. I dont know what to do... Sometimes I wish I would just faint to fix it. some help would REALLY be appreciated
