In june 0f 2006 i was diagnoised as type II after a oral glucose test 1hr. reading of 214 and 2nd hr reading of 208. that morning i smoked ciggarettes before the test and was highly stress(concerns of the un-x-plained weight loss) i. have since stopped smoking and drinking alcohol. i have had 2 a1c first was 5.6 in june and 5.5 in july. i was on metformin for acouple of days, i experinced low blood sugars and was told ,since my levels seemed to be undercontrolled ;i could stop the metfoirmin. i nce weighed 214-211 lbs. in may of '06. in june i was around 188, now aug. 06 i am 176. i was told once it was controlled that i would regain soe of my weight back . i know to controll diabetes you need to controll your diet. but since i have never dieted but only changed my eating habits is there something else that's causing the weight loss. i have taken an HIV test results were neg. and labs cbc, comp met pan. lip. tsh. in june '06. but has any other type II had the un X plained weight loss.

there is no mystery here as all you done is lined up the sugar intake and imbalanced it against your available insulin;what was happening previously was that you were putting a heavy dose of sugar intake all at once and it was provoking a heavy insulin response which was storing the sugar as fat instead of leaving some in the bloodstream and putting a two day store in the liver;at that point no doubt you then felt hungry and then ate again and repeated the cycle of large input of sugar and heavy insulin response and the bottom falling out of the bloodstream sugar with you getting fatter and fatter at every repeat and never getting rid of the hungry feeling;by luck or instinct you have hit on the answer which is feed the sugar in slowly and in restriced amounts
you dont tell us how tall you are but twelve and a half stone would be a good weight for even a six footer and you don't tell us how active you are.cos your insulin is working properly any serious activity would start ot shed the pounds;worry might have a role to play.there may something else wrong but i think you have got the story back to front;you should have been worryimg when you were storing weight for the reason explained above and dont you have access to a copy of he weight height tables?
when you stabilise your sugar the results can be shocking;i went from 170 to150 just by dropping chocolate and its hard to believe that there is not anythin g wrong quite the contrary
see your doctor anyway as it could be for example overactive thyroid

It sounds like the diabetic episode was enough to get your attention to quit smoking, drinking and reduced stress. That alone will cause weight loss. I sort of wish I could loose the weight like that. However, it's not happening. While my blood glucose is under control, I still retain the weight. If you continue to loose weight beyond what you "normal" weight for your height should be, then a trip back to your doctor would be needed to determine if there's something else going on.
Good luck there.

I had a co-worker go through this as well. It was the rapid weight loss (he lost 30 lbs in just over 1 month without trying) and he was also tired alot as well. He has no history of Diabetes in his direct family but his wifes aunt has it and recognized the signs.
Diabetes is just your bodies inabillaty to regulate blood sugar levels. So you can go high as well as low at times. He has not lost any more but stayed the same now he is watching his diet. Were you overweight before? It should plateau eventually I would think.

Unexplained weight loss, going to the bathroom alot, and excessive thirst are all initial symptoms of diabetes. You my just have what they call "metabolic syndrome" or prediabetes but good old exercise will work wonders if the metformin is too much. Make sure you are eating 5 small meals a day.

I too had similar problem. I am 62 and started gaining weight. I am Type 1 diabetic. Prayer and your doctor are the best to help you. I also stopped smoking and drinking. This is one of the reasons that I started regaining my weight.

a solid thank you to unfastened weight is to stay faraway from the "white meals". This includes potatoes (chips, fries, ect.), do no longer consume fries meals, consume an excellent sort of unpolluted vegetables (that's fit than canned, much less sodium and sugars), consume entire grain meals (entire wheat bread, entire grain cereals), bake your meats fairly, do no longer use gravy, and if conceivable positioned money right into a george forman grill. nutrition recurring by myself won't assist you unfastened weight. The greater muscle you have the greater fat you burn. attempt cardio and weight instruction.
