Thousands of people have sued the tobacco industry because their products caused cancer. My question is this: If the FDA approves the ingrediants in our foods and our foods are consumed daily by the public and these foods causes illnesses such as diabeties, obesity and cancer; then i'm curious why haven't consumers sued the government for this? If a person dies from diabeties complications, let's say type II (since that encompasses about 90 percent of diabeties today) wouldn't that in a sense be committing murder in an indirect passive way to the public? Keep in mind the tobacco industry, millions have died because of products this industry produces and it is approved as legal by the United States government. Those that have sued the tobacco industry, knew it was bad for them, they still sued and WON and even though we know sugar and other chemicals in our food are bad, they are consumed by the same people who may have less knowledge of nutrition yet still eat this approved food.

Great Question!!!
the people who r thinking about their surrounding can ask such question but how much disappointment we get from others :(
actually this all is MONEY GAME!!! and nothing else
Rules are Rules but Rules bend when MONEY is in front of them !!!
so we can just watch this game !!! and change is only possible if we will enter in this game and play at our own

that was a good question.yes right now junk foods kill more people than tobacco.regarding sueing, that may be done.

see, the thing is if we go on sueing everyone then there would be no end to it.we the people should think.everything that a company says or issues must be viewed with suspicion or rather caution.

we are the consumers and we make the market.if we question, then there would be no problems afterall. As long as we move like the sheep in the herd, these things do happen.Frankly speaking how many of us do think before eating any product.

regarding the FDA, we can not take everything the FDA says as true.recently there has been too much of tampering of the organization by the corporates.the evidence is all there if u see things closely.

You could sue.. might even win. Soft drinks are addictive. Sugar is addictive. Many companies put things in their food so you don't feel full even after eating 100 cookies!

Really though, suing means your blaming someone else. And people do that every day and they win... they blame other people like the cigarette company... of the company that made guns.

Why is it people sue gun stores and win the suits when the guns were used to kill someone? But yet, I'm told I have no case against the car company that sold a car to a legally blind woman who isn't allowed to drive at night ... and she was driving at night and hit and killed my sister!?

Still, I find the problem with the world is people don't like to be responsible for themselves. My sister shouldn't have been in that street... and that woman shouldn't have been driving! But the car company had nothing to do with it. The tabacco company makes products that can kill people, but people choose to start smoking them and become addicted in the first place... food companies sell junk food and they continue to cause people buy it and the companies make money.

Gotta look out for youself. Stop buying bad foods. If people were responsible for themselves we wouldn't have the problems we have.

It's true that we can make healthier choices. We have no right, for example, to sue fast food outlets if we choose to consume their products.

But the answer isn't as simple as that. There appears to be collusion between the FDA and certain food merchandisers, perhaps even the pharmaceutical companies. If you google "dangers of aspartame" (the artificial sweetener in diet sodas and most sugar-free sweets) you will come across a horror story involving the FDA. But no one complains...I guess we are a nation of sheep. Baaa!

But cigarettes are addictive, and there was a big corporate conspiracy to cover up that fact. Food isn't addictive. You have the choice to eat healthier.

Good Question. In America, I am sure someone has or will sue for just that. If you have the time, money and diligence you can sue. It takes money to make money.
