I can not convince my cousin to go see a doctor. He is diabetic. He also drinks alcohol. The last time I saw him, he looked bloated and very unhealthy. I am trying to talk to his mother about this, but have not had any luck yet. I am wondering the physical signs of kidney failure. If this were me, I would have gone to a doctor already. I know that this is not the best situation for diagnosis, but I need help.

I went to the doctor and got my blood taken to see if there was anything wrong with me. They said i had really low blood sugar, also called Hypoglycemia. Well, I have lost about 15 pounds in the past month, I have been eating more. Really weird pains around my belly button area. Also, if I eat too much i get really ill and feel like throwing up. What do you think?

My nephew who's only 9 months old developed Type 1 diabetes. My cousin checks his blood with glucometer using test strips, but because of the pain it causes the kid became very nervous and starts crying everytime his mom approaches him. I was wondering if anybody knows about alternative ways to test blood, that are not as painful and that are suitable for a kid his age. Thank you.

Well I just ate a BIG meal (Mexican food = yummy) and then I had like a glass of orange juice half an hour ago. My grandma had me use her little blood sugar thing because diabetes runs in the family. So I took my blood sugar level and it was at 134. I am a 17 year old male. I don't really have any other signs of diabetes; however, I am a little bit (10-15 lbs) overweight, nothing too bad though... Should I be worried?

I'm 18 years old...I'm 6'3 195 pounds. I eat atrociously----burgers, hot dogs, lots of bready kind of stuff, everything is covered in cheese....sometimes sweet stuff like soda, candy...etc. etc. I appear very lanky and thin even though I eat really bad food---and and I eat a large quanity of it. My stomach is out of proportion from the rest of my body in terms of fat being stationed there, although unless I took my shirt off no one would be able to tell that I wasn't a skeleton----it's not big big, but it's not flat if you know what I mean (a decent amount of pudge). After I eat terrible foods lately I keep getting sharp feelings in my feet...also a few months ago my eyes would twitch after eating bad foods for a period of a few weeks. I have heard that type 2 diabetes (which if I have diabetes is what I most likely have---90 percent of diabetics are type 2 while type 1 accounts for only 10 percent) usually sets in during middle age---at my age could i already have diabetes???

first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything? He hasn't been diagnosed with diabetes, but he seems to have some symptoms. He uses the bathroom several times a night. Just this morning he urinated 6 times within a two hour period. I checked his blood and got a reading of 97. I don't have diabetes, but both my parents do.

I've been diabetic nearly 30 yrs, I'm now 45. Hypo's effect me in different ways eg. blurred vision, seeing different colours, bad sweats etc. How do others cope with this? How do you feel afterwards? Are you like myself and feel really sluggish and tired? I obviously know what to do when I am low, just curious how it effects others. I'm insulin dependant by the way.

After injecting, the skin stays painful temporarily. After the pain is reduced it does not go away completely and it stays tender for a very long time!

Why does this happen and is there anything I can do about it?

P.S. I know about injecting at different sites to help... but I dont have enough different space, most of them hurt!!

If so, how many hours? I hope, wish, & pray that I'm not diabetic. Is numbness a sign? I know I'm black & overweight, which are such factors. I'm so scared.

Hello, once diagnoised with diabetes II does that mean your stuck with it the rest of your life, that your cells will simply not go back to a normal state were they were before you were diagnoised? Or have I destroyed my cells ability to respond to insuline for the rest of my life?

I've just went to Longs for health screeing, I was suprised that my HBA1c = 6.2 (<6 for non diabetic) but my glucose was normal (81). I had an "one touch ultrasmart" glucose meter and I somestimes used it and the level have always been normal. I ran the glucose tests at home everyday after that (3 days) and also came back to have them check glucose level one more time and it is still normal. However, I am still worried sick because that that HBA1c that I should not take. Could someone please help me to explain my situation. Thank you very much.
