My latest test results show: Fasting Blood Glucose 127, Glucose (2 hrs p.p.) 166.However ,HbA1c is 5.9% indicating the average range of 117 mg% during the past 2-3 months.Am I considered diabatic?

Doctors would like your HbA1c levels to be less than 7%. Your fasting blood Glucose is a little high, but nothing to worry about. It is still a very normal range, as is the 166 2 hours after eating. You may be borderline diabetic, and should see your doctor to make sure. It sounds like if you are borderline, it could be easily controlled by adjusting your diet and eating habits. You would not have to worry about meds or insulin. Good Luck

Generally, Fasting glucose needs to be above 130 and A1C above 7% to be considered diabetic. But every dr will approach these numbers differently. What does your Dr. say?

No, ur Pancreas is still making insulin, but you might want to talk to ur Doc. It is odd that ur BS is that high fasting. Could be some other problem. Maybe onset of type 2.

my doctor told me that in order to be considered diabetic you must have two readings of 126 or above. I am what he called insulin resistant - so I'm not diabetic yet, but that's where I'm headed. He told me to limit carb intake - cut out breads and potatoes and simple sugars and exercise more.
