Glycemia is the glucose level in your blood stream. Glyc=sugar emia=blood. Put the two together and you have blood sugar. Hypoglycemia means low sugar in your blood stream. Hyperglycemia means you have too much sugar in your blood stream. Too much sugar can cause damage to other body parts and organs, including the eyes and kidneys and blood vessels. Too low sugar in your blood stream can cause physical problems, like fainting, low energy levels, and weight loss. Call a doctor if you've got more questions.
