I am very sorry for your loss. I am a type 1 diabetic. As a child I shrugged a lot of it off, thinking nothing bad will happen. I am now going blind becuase of that. Kids teenagers, adults, everyone with diabetes needs to take it seriously, because those bad side effects will happen! Stay strong, and thank you for sharing your experience.

It is truly sad that your brother had to pass on. I am so sorry. My husband is type 2. We are going through all types of heart testing because he has some sort of "defect". Diabetes isn't the only problem. Depression stems from it. Blindness, heart disease, amputation and the worst, death. Going to a doctor who specializes in diabetes is important. Our doctor is a GP and he missed alot of things, especially ordering him to get regular cardio checkups. He kept telling the doctor he had chest pains and he told him he was "too young" to worry about a heart condition. The cardio guy says he's on the wrong meds., so now I question the GP. You cannot blame yourself, but you will, and in time you will understand what has happened and you will be able to heal. God Bless and may He comfort you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
My best friend's brother is about 22 and a Type 1 and is an alcoholic. He totally does not take care of himself like he should, but of course telling him that never helps matters. He suffers from hypoglycemia and does not take it seriously.
=(

Sorry to hear about your brother. My condolense. Maybe you could have you doctor get the word out that nobody dies of Diabetes. They die because of the damage that diabetes causes. If more people knew about it, maybe it would get people's attention. Again, sorry to hear of your loss.
