My paternal grandmother has type 1 diabetes, as well as two of my paternal great aunts. My maternal great uncle has type 1 diabetes. I have been tested a few years ago and came up negative, but very recently and suddenly, I have been drinking four to five cans of soda and sugary tea everyday, have been extrememly itchy, and am more prone to bumps and scrapes, as well as have been extremely tired and absent minded. Other than that, I am rather healthy. Am I jumping to conclusions? Am I getting older, or could I be diabetic? My father is tested every year and is NOT diabetic.

who are in the same situation or who WERE in the same situation who now have diabetes? All of the support groups in our area are for teens with juvenile onset diabetes. I've found the same to be true for on-line support groups. Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't know my family history. I am adopted. I am slightly overweight, I get occassional exercise ( taebo), I work sitting down for 8+ hours a day at a computer, I drink water not sodas, I have no problems with blood pressure, get enough sleep, BUT I have occassional moments of hypoglycemia. I know this is a symptom of diabetes. Does that mean I have it? I bought a glucose monitor and my blood glucose levels have been normal for 2 days straight now, before and after meals. I rarely get hypoglycemia, maybe once every three months. I don't want to worry myself but I know diabetes is very hard to fight and get rid of should I truly have it. I am a Medical Assistant and will understand any reply I am given...I just haven't worked up the courage to speak to a medical professional about it yet. Call me a coward but diabetes scares me. :(

i am trying to improve the way i eat by incorporating more whole
foods into my diet and choosing less processed foods.
i also have recently become very interested in organic food and have been eating some organic fruits, vegetables, and cereal.
i have found the prices are slightly higher and think the overall benefit is worth the money.
however at this time i don't plan to go strictly organic and wonder
if incorporating a small amount of organic foods along with
other whole foods going to make that much of a difference.
what do you think?

ok, im too worried to go to the doctor incase he says i have diabetes, and i hate needles! But recently i have noticed that when i go for a poo (in polite terms!!) theres like this i dont know how to discribe it, its looks like as if some one has spitted bascially, well that seems to be coming out along with the waste. I recall something i learnt a long tome ago in biology that with people who have diabetes then protein also comes out in their waste, and im not sure what exactly it is!! and another thing when i get up quickly, and go into a lighter or darker room, basicaly just all of a sudden leave my living room and go to the kitchen then my eyes just blackout, i cannot see anything for a few seconds and i feel extremly dizzy? Are any of these symptoms of diabetes? As i have noticed i have been eating alot of sugar recently. Please help!!

I just drank a XXL Monster and 2 Red Bulls. Just from those alone, that's 135 grams of sugar. How much sugar am I supposed to have without having the risk of diabetes? And how much should I have daily to be safe?

My boyrfriend of 2 months has diabetes (sort of under control). He's good about going to the doctors, ok about taking medicine and eating. But his sugars are still higher than they should be and he doesn't get any physical activity. I don't have a family history of diabetes so I'm very unfamilar with it and I'm very active and healthy over all myself. His diabetes frankly terrifies me. Although everything else is greally great. Any advice?
