I think you should first try to get it lowered on your own. Alternate Tylenol and Motrin every hour hours, drink plenty of fluids, and do NOT cover up with layers of clothes and blankets. This only contains the heat. You could also try a tepid bath.
Barring that, over 104 should see a doctor.

Call the Dr. that's your best bet everyone's core tepm is different so take that into to consideration. Also what other symptoms you have. I've had close to 105 and just took a luke warm bath, meds, and cold rag on my head. under dr.'s orders.

Is your temperature high? Check your blood sugar. Adjust accordingly. You don't need a frikkin' emergency room.
Is your temperature low?
Turn up the heater or put on a jacket.

Base body temp is around 98F. I'd go to the emergency room for anything above 101F. Let your gut be your guide.

i went with a 106 temp when i had bacterial pneumonia and the second time at 105 when i had viral pneumonia

If you don't have a family doctor that can see you then if your temperature is sustained at 101.0 for more than two days I would go to the ER. You don't want it to go any higher.
