I'm trying to better understand the process for regulating and paying for cancer products in India. I would be grateful if any information (especially grateful if it is sourced) on who firstly regulates pharma products, and secondly who holds the pursestrings and therefore decides which drugs can and cannot be prescribed. And lastly, how much ability the prescribers have to work around or outside this. Big gold star for the one who can help!

I'm suspected to have a disease called Chordoma. Its a rare tumor. I'm just 20 this year. Do anyone here in Singapore have this disease so we can share? I'm scared cause i read some articles where its hard to cure unless you try using the proton beam. I ask myself why this illness choose me but i realise this is what god gives me. Please share with me..... :(

Last year I started losing weight without trying (lost 8kg in total over a 6 wk period) and started feeling really lousy, like I had the 'flu but without the sore throat. I was tired all the time too and my back and neck were aching. The doc noticed some enlarged lymph nodes in my neck, which I hadn't even noticed myself. I had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with 'cervical lymphadenopathy'. There were also some slightly larger nodes in my left armpit. As I had breast cancer 11 years previously when I was 25, it was first thought it had returned and I was sent off for tests, including blood tests, all came back 'normal'. I was then tested for every other viral/bacterial/infectious disease and again, all tests were negative. Then I started having dizzy spells and heart palpitations. That was Nov/Dec. It's now March and the nodes have gotten bigger and now there's a hard lump in the nodes in my groin. What is going on? My sister had Hodgkins when she was 21 - could it be that?

Hello, I am 25 and I had Hodgkins lymphoma when I was 22. It was in my neck and chest. Recently two more spots had shown up on a pet scan I had done. My Dr. says we should just watch it and not try to do any biobsy at this time. I am scared that my cancer is back. I trust my Dr. but I mean, I cant stand the waiting. I can deal with it if its back, and I can get on with living if its not. But the not knowing is driving me crazy.... Does anyone have any comments or words of encouragement? I go back to see her this month, and I need to get some type of closure to this. Should I tell her to either do the test or I find another doc, or just trust her because she is a Dr. and I'm not?

My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has already had a lumpectomy, but now she faces a mastectomy, as well as 8 chemo sessions. She's feeling sad, and I want to know how I can help. I already help around the house, and we have a very strong love between us. Is there anything else I can do? I've tried to relay that I understand what she's feeling (I've had recent health problems myself), but I also understand that that rarely helps.

Cancer is the uncontrolled division of cells. This is caused by the mutation of the DNA in these cells, resulting in rapid and uncontrolled cellular division. My question is: Once these cells mutate and divide, do they retain the surface cell proteins of the original, healthy cells, or do the surface cells change in the mutation?

I have become interested in this topic, but Google, Wikipedia, and Yahoo! don't seem to be helping me out.
