My father has cancer in the throat or rather..lymph nodes in the throat. Anyway he finished his treatment like 2 and a bit months ago - now his actual cancerous lump has shrunk HEAPS..but..recently it was bleeding (on the surface) a bit like a boil i suppose. Is this normal? Should we be worried? It may be that he's just scratched the surface of it..but i dont know. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hi all, thank you for reading my question. My dad was just diagonsed with prostate cancer last monday. The funny thing about this is that his PSA levels started at 7.6, when they told him he might have cancer, he changed his entire diet around, every two weeks he had to go for blood work. Everytime his PSA levels kept going down. The last PSA level he had was 4.2 and the doctor said, everything seem to be ok, but if he wanted to be 100% sure to get the biopsy done.

Well he did get the biopsy, last monday the doctor told us they found very little cancer. My dad decided to get his prostate removed, we are going to talk to the doctor again on monday to give him the decision.

My question here is, if anybody knows why his PSA levels would go down instead of up? and does this mean his cancer maybe hasn't spread? He has done a psa level for the past 2 or 3 years know, and this is teh first time cancer was diagnosed. He is 56 but very heatly otherwise. Anybody out there with experienc

I used to smoke - only recreationally. It lasted for about 10 years off and on. I was never a heavy smoker by any means. I MAYBE would finish one pack in a week and a half. It has been at least 2 years since I last smoked. Sometimes I would go 8-10 months without ever smoking. It was a really random thing.

Last year I went to the dentist for a normal check-up and he saw a medium-sized black circle on the skin inside my cheek. He thought I had just bitten my cheek. It was still there when I've been back both times for my latest two teeth cleanings. Could this be a sign of cancer?

My grandpa died of color cancer and my grandma has had kidney cancer (she survived). I think that there is also skin cancer and breast cancer (distantly) in my family. I stopped the social smoking because of this fear. I try to eat healthy and use sunscreen (I also don't go outside much in the summer). I exercise a few times a week. Please help!

My mother found out 2 weeks ago she's got kidney cancer, it has spread to her renal vein, liver and lungs. She has a 12 centimeter tumor on her left kidney and has to have her left kidney removed by open surgery, How long does this surgery usually take? My husband and I have agreed that I would stay and take care of her when she got out of the hospital. I would also like to know if its possibly that she will be in icu for a day or so? if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

My 46 year old mom has to get a mastectomy in two weeks to remove her breast with cancer. I am so scared and I am trying to be the best supportive daughter that I can be. The cancer also spread to her thyroid. I feel so bad for her because her self esteem is shot. She says a man will never want her again since she will have only one breast. The doctors say she will need chemo and radiation after the surgery. Can anyone tell me how long she will need to go through this treatment? Will she be in a lot of pain? Also any additional comments or knowledge about this topic is appreciated.

My uncle just found out he has lung cancer. His job has let him go and they are taking his insurance from him. Worse yet, he will have made too much money this last year to get medicare. Disability will take way to long to get. Soon he will need help with treatment and medication costs. I just was hoping someone might have some suggestions of organizations that might be able to help us. I and my family would appreciate any help anyone can give.

My professor has cancer and we're like friends almost ( but with lots of respect ) and he's been telling me about his treatments and I really wanna say something sweet but sincere. Even tough he's in an advanced state of cancer he looks very healthy and lives his life to the fullest. Can I tell him that he's in great state and that he looks healthier than me (I'm like 20 years younger than him) Or can I tell him that he's more enrgetic than me? he just sent me a letter telling me that he'll receive his scanner results tomowrrow
