Ok, My father(72) and my sister(29) both died from cancer in 2002 and my oldest brother died from unknown reasons a few months before them(cancer?). A close friend of the family killed herself(26) last week because both her Mom and Dad just died from cancer. Seems like every one i know, knows someone ,possible a close family member, who has or who died from it. Im asking if the medical communties and the governments is doing enough about this HUGE problem?

I noticed the swollen lymph nodes about 2 weeks after birth. Skin condition comes and goes but has stayed now for about 4 wks. baby is now 9 wks old. The baby has also been treated with antibotics for 10 days at 2 weeks old for an ear infection. No change in the lymph nodes over the course of antibiotics. Doc thinks skin condition is due to laundry detergent allergy. But I did switch to the Dreft and it is still there. He also said as long as the Lymph nodes still move about when you touch them not to worry. It just seems odd to me that they are still protruding and I thought maybe a connection between the skin condition and node situation. Maybe impetigo? Has anyone experienced this?

My husbands aunt (which is like his mother) has cancer in her brain breast and lymp nodes. She had beat breast cancer once but it came back and spread. The is a new drug that has been approved for the treatment of cancer just a few days ago. She had met one of the women who had taken the drug as an experiment when she was terminally ill with cancer and after takeing the drug she has been cancer free for over a year. My aunts doctor wants her to take the drug but the meds cost $3500 a month and her insurance wont cover it. I was wondering if anyone knew of any program or anything else that might help her pay for this.. Its a shame that people who need these meds cant afford them. I dont understand why they make these meds cost so much when people desperetly need them. Any help is appreciated.. By the way we live in KY.

A question out of curiosity.
I've been reading about how there is no known cause for breast cancer but also about how bras can cause breast cancer. So just to even things out, do they?
I wear sports bras very often... so thats why I limited it sports bras.

We finally got the results back dated the 9th of this month from my daughter's pathology report on biopsies taken from her rectal tumor during a colonoscopy. I searched the internet last weekend for info on "staging" cancer. From what I read on her report, they are saying she is a "T3/T4 NO MO". From what I was able to learn by surfing the net this past weekend, that figures out to a stage 2, I think. Am I correct, does anyone know???

However... they have found "enlarged lymph nodes" (2, I think) in her abdomen.... so would that push her to a stage 3??? Please... any help here in understanding this will be appreciated.

Thank you.

My daughter (who is only 35) is coming up on her 36th birthday soon. She was diagnosed with rectal cancer recently and begins her treatments only 4 days before her birthday. Does anyone have any suggestions for something "special" for this years birthday? I don't want to go "over the top" and draw unnecessary attention to that day... I know she doesn't want it to be any different than any other birthday that she's had... but since it IS different this year... and because she is experiencing something that possibly some of you out there have... does anyone have any suggestions for gifts that a cancer patient could use or would appreciate? Or anything else special??? She loves to garden, and other years I usually got her something related to that, or a gift certificate to a nursery... this year is different.

She tells me that while undergoing treatment she can take only bathes for 5 weeks... so I was thinking along the line of bath products... anyone have any other suggestions?
