I was 25 when I found a pea sized lump in my right breast, quite accidentally, in fact. There is no breast cancer in my family at all. The lump felt like a hard, wooden bead underneath my skin, up near the armpit. It was not painful however after I found it, and kept prodding at it, it did begin to ache. Sort of like a dull ache. I went to see my GP about two hours after finding it. I wasn't worried that it was cancer at all, but I thought I'd better be sure. Glad I did that - it turned out to be cancer. I had a lumpectomy and then had the lymph nodes taken out of my armpit. It had not spread, thank goodness, but who knows what might have happened if I'd left it any longer. Get that mammogram asap! Breast cancer can happen to any woman, regardless of her age or family history - as I discovered myself.

I am a breast cancer survivor of almost 11 years. The reason I am a survivor is because when I discovered the small pea size lump.I was in the Doctors office 2 days later.Call your Doctor and demand an earlier mammogram.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL MAY 23RD.
TAKE ACTION ANYTIME AN ABNORMALITY IS FOUND.
A BISOPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO RULE OUT CANCER.
Good luck and you will do great even if the worse happens.

I would not wait until may for a mammogram. That will only show the lumps, they will still need to be examined to determine what they are.
If your doctor cant do the test within the next week you should try other doctors, or a womans health center.
Good luck

Sometimes during a woman's monthly period these types of bumps appear. They are gland that just get bigger. Then again, it may not be that so be sure to get checked out.
High doses of caffeine will cause many small lumps in the breast. If you drink a lot of Mountain Dew or Red Bulls then you may be causing this problem yourself. Make adjustments to your drinking diet if this applies.

Ask them if they can move that up...or have your doctor call and ask them..they respond better if it's from an MD. Have you been checking your breasts regularly? Do you know how long it has been there?...that's what breast self examination is all about...basically knowing what your breasts feel like from month to month..and when you find something new, you'll know instantly...not sure if this is what happened to you...but it's useful information. It could be fibrocystic breast disease which millions of women have...me too. It reacts to your monthly cycle, causing strange lumps and pain. I hope this is what it is...call your doctor tomorrow and please ask him to help you rest your mind by moving this mammogram up to this week. Good luck!

get the mammogram now. It may be benign, but you don't want to risk the wait, as some breast cancers are fast spreading. I called and got an appt the next week. Call another radiology place.

my sister has breast cancer and it has been removed but the delay in taking mamograpy by her resulted in one of her lymph nodes also getting affected and her lymp glands have also been removed and she is having chemo now. Therefore without any delay take mammography immediatly it may be not be a cancer but still you should not delay and diagonise it quickly before it spreads so that you will have a troublefree full life span..

Unfortunately, only tests will show what it is you may have. Any abnormal growths that weren't there before are cause for alarm, and should be checked on as soon as possible. I suggest contacting your doctor to see if you can be seen any sooner, especially if they start getting any larger. Thats my two cents for ya.
