Yes, I have just turned 40 and I gave up smoking 7 weeks ago today!. Not a single puff has passed my lips. I had a headache for about two weeks, get a bit anxious but apart from that, feel 100% better. I have tried a few times before. However, I now addicted to Yahoo answers!!

This should help you decide whether you'd like to give up or not...
The 5 year survival rate for lung cancer is 14%. This means that only 14% (not even 1 in 5) of people diagnosed with lung cancer are alive 5 years after diagnosis.
Also, the smallest cancer that can be detected on a chest xray is 1cm in diameter. It takes, on average, between 8 and 10 years for a cancer to grow to this size. This means that you've already had cancer for many years before it can even be detected.

I gave up 15 months ago and its the best thing I've ever done,my taste has come back and my smell.my smell is driving me crazy cause things i loved the smell of before i actually hate now.
I went to my G.P and got patches and I would say that for the first week it was hard and after that it was a lot easier. And you don't put on that much weight either I only put on about half a stone and I'm starting to lose that now.
have a go, you wont know till you try.
Good luck
Hope this helps.

Oooooo, I'd love to! Nasty dirty habit! Will try when they ban in public places, went to Dublin where they do already and it was so nice knowing you are not being to be stabbed with a *** in a club! I also cut down massively.
Not sure about anyone else but I have given up smoking before and only ever crumble after a few drinks!
It's so damn expensive too!

i still think about giving up smoking and i gave up 3 years ago on the 9th of march - the cravings are still there - i still love the smell of a *** - you just got to do it - its no good slowing up - you got to hit it on the head in one go and try your best - remember even if you do have a ciggie - your not a failure
i hope this is of help

It was my new year resolution. So far so good. I recommend it especially since there's a smoking ban coming up.

Did it 3 years ago and have kept it up since, but.............sorry to disappoint but have never totally gotten rid of the craving and would start again tomorrow if I was dying. Feel much healthier now though and my blood and lung report is A1.
