I have been involved in the fire service since I was 16 years old. I am 28 now. I started on my town's volunteer ambulance and when I turned 18, I joined the fire dept. All I ever wanted to do was become a "career" firefighter. I became a paramedic, I have a fire science degree, and I also became an instructor. I finally got hired in a large fire dept in Va. Soon after going to work, I was terminated.....because i am a diabetic. I have been hired in 4 other fire depts since. I kept being diabetic a secret from the depts because i knew I would never get hired because of the diabetes. Each time I allowed my condition to be known, I was terminated. I have never had any episodes of low blood sugar, and this condition has never affected me on the job. If it wasnt for me allowing others to know of my condition, I am certain that I would still be a firefighter. I am not a drunk, and I would help anyone. I can't find a reason why God won't allow me to continue to work in this service. Can U?

New doctors have found out I was misdiagnosed with diabetes. There were problems with the glucose tolerance test. My doctor said I had hypoglycemia. He told me I needed to be treated with diabetic medication. What effect would the glimiperide have on my system? Did it make my pancreas increase my insulin levels, trying to lower my blood sugar levels ? However it worked, it really has my endocrine system all messed up. Does anyone know about this?

im completely healthy there is nothing wrong with me could it be the spaghetti i ate 2 nights ago or blood,it looked like blood but it did not smell like it.i took it out of the toilet to look at it and looks like blood or just the red sauce from 2 nights ago....please help and give best possible answers...thanx.

There are many reasons it seems for the fusions i read about on this site. My problem is said to be "sinus tarsi syndrome" and there seems to be some question as to the validity of such a thing. I am supposed to have it. And fusion is said to be a possible answer for me. But my doctor says he doesn't believe in it! I wonder if anyone else has had any experience with this at all. It does not seem to be a problem mentioned by anybody but me as a reason for there fusion. I have had one operation already to remove the fat bad in hope of fixing my controversial problem. With little sucsess.

We were eating dinner and my husband suddenly zoned out and went red. I had thought he was choking but he didn't come out of it. His left hand and leg were shaking- and then he was fine. This has never happened before. My brother is a flight paramedic and checked him out- but he needs to be seen by a doctor now-NOW. He refused to go until tomorrow. Fine- I'll watch him tonight and take him tomorrow.

This has never, ever happened before...ever.
What can cause this, what are treatments, what what do I do to let him know how very serious this is??? He never goes to the doctor- not unless he is deathly ill. He is 39. He smokes despite my pleas to quit. Otherwise, he seems to be in good health.

I am really, really scared.

My mom one day found out that she had a little itchy thing in her body. It was red, and bulgy, and it started spreading. She tried many medications, but there was no effect...... It started spreading really fast and after a few days, it was all over that part of the body.... Help?

My mother, 64, is to see a DR on Wed, but I am wondering what the possiblities could be. She lives in another state, & on the phone not too long ago she asked what a panic attack felt like, I told her of mine & she said she thought she was having them bc she was having shortness of breath. She told my sister she was going to have a mamogram(wed) because she was feeling pains in her breasts, no lumps. I think she tried to write off the breast pains & breathing problems as a mild panic attack, but I think she is sure that is not what it is. She lives with a smoker, has all of her life and she works in a bar around smokers. I am wondering if the DR's are looking for lung cancer. What other things could show these symptoms?

what to do about this? I did fine the first 24 hours and now my foot itches so bad I can hardly stand it. I am allergic to tobacco, so that old remedy won't work for me. I just took 2 bendadryl, but what can I put on my foot to relieve my itching?

The bottom of my feet are bright pink...almost hot pink. Its very weird and it's been like this for a few days. It feels fine...it doesnt hurt or burn. Ive tried scrubbing them to see if maybe I stepped in something but it remains the same.
