You first have to WANT to quit. I am on day 10 being smoke free. I have been taking Chantix by Pfizer for about 3 weeks. It works to block the high that you get from nicotine but adds NO nicotine to your system. My husband and I decided to do it together and it is working so far. Don't get me wrong, we still get a urge to smoke but it passes really fast. Most health insurances pay for this prescription. They say it is 80% effective.

Stopping is so hard. I used smoke away to help me.
The pills help the body and I listened to the CD every day it helps the mind. The tiny pills for when you are tempted bad reminds me of the nitro pills heart patients keep with them. They help so much. For my hands I kept a pencil with me at all times. I kept water and when I wanted to smoke I drank water and chewed lots of watermelon flavored gum. I drank lots of green tea and I tried not to be around others smoking until I felt strong enough to not ask for one. That was the hardest part for me. It has been a few years now and I still sometimes think that I want one, but I say no way, no how , think about how nasty they are, and in a few minutes it passes.
It is an addiction and I will always be an addict I am just smoke free at the end of each day by choice. When your ready you can do it.

I've heard that it takes 3 or 4 tries before a person can actually stop smoking. some people need extra help because they're addicted to the nicotine. then they use gum or patches or something. try starting a hobby. you need to replace the bad habit of smoking with a good habit. you might have to talk to a doctor if it's an extreme case.
