Spaghetti sauce will not retain its red color. You either have a bleeding ulcer, a hemorrhoid, or something more serious. You need to see a doctor right away. The longer you put off seeing a doctor the greater your chances are of hemorrhaging if it is a bleeding ulcer. You can die from that. Please see your doctor tomorrow.

This has happened to me many times when eating tomato sauces. (Too much grapes or wine will make it bright green like grass..) First of all, if it were very serious bleeding, coming from the stomach as some have suggested it would be BLACK and not red. If it were bleeding (and my guess is that this is not) and it were lower in the digestive tract, it would be red, but you would be able to tell it was blood on the toilet paper. You are fine. If you get a gut ache, or if you see definite blood on the toilet tissue, then be concerned a little, you might have a little anal thing going on from not eating enough fiber in your diet. But if it is orangy red it is just the tomato stuff and it will be gone next time you go.

It's unlikely that spaghetti from two days ago would show up looking like blood. You may have some internal hemorrhoids that were irritated when you had your bowel movement. Try drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables and exercise if possible...this all helps with keeping the bowel movements easier to pass. If you still notice the blood though, have it checked by your doctor. Good luck.

All of these answers make sense, but I'd also like to mention that some types of cancers has the symptoms like you describe. If the red substance was a bright red it means that it was probably a tear from a hard bowel movement or hemorrhoid.Best to be checked by doctor.

It's probably bits of tomato pulp or skin that did not digest.
I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. Of course I'm no doctor but you did ask....
You can call your doctor about this in the morning, but I wouldn't stress out. Tomato skins WILL retain color often and bleeding ulcers will show black as the blood is digested.
Could be hemorrhoids, but I will bet in a day it's gone, if not call for sure.

Hemorrhoids are associated with constipation and straining at bowel movements. How to get rid of hemorrhoids https://tr.im/qSBfJ
Pregnancy is also associated with hemorrhoids. These conditions lead to increased pressure within the hemorrhoidal veins that causes them to swell. Other conditions, for example chronic liver disease, may also cause increased venous pressure and may be associated with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are very common and are estimated to occur in up to one-half of the population by age 50.

When you have blood in your feces, your feces will be black and tarry. Red markings could be undigested food, iron compounds, blood from hemorrhoids, or dyes from flavored beverages like crystal light, koolaid, or gatorade.
Try chewing your food better, and drinking more water and less soda, koolaid, etc.
