I requested my ob/gyn send me for a blood test to see if I am carrying the HSV1/HSV2 antibodies, and the test results came back I do have these antibodies in my blood. My doctor tells me that even though the antibodies are present, I have not yet been dioagnosed with anything because the only way to be sure is a culture of an actual outbreak. He has consulted with another doctor who is the head of the neonatal unit and he advised I should be put on acyclovir as a precaution because even though I have never had an outbreak that I have been aware of he said I may have had outbreaks on my cervix and never would have known(The only reason I had asked for the blood test because my husband had been getting a rash now and again since we started dating, we had just thought it was an irritation due to detergent or something, but once I got pregnant I wanted to make sure it was nothing) I have read my baby can die or be injured for life and am very worried, what are the odds of this happening?
