My nephew (girl) is suffering from epilpsey,she is 7yrs old and we have visited lot of doctors in india but no result.Her fitz stopped for 4-5 years and now she is getting them again.Please advise any doctor/medicine which can help and bring her back to normal kids life

Valproic Acid, which has many brand names (Epival, Depakote,) can stop seizures. How much to use depends on your niece's weight. There are other medicines. She may gain weight on this one. I'm happy for your niece that she has such a caring aunt. Please be well.

There are several types of medication to help. They originally started me out on phenobarbital, but that was before they had the milder, less dangerous medicines they have now. They should probably start your niece (not nephew) out on Dilantin Infatabs, but there are many others they can try if those aren't effective. She may still have occasional seizures, even with the medication, and if no medicine works, they may recommend surgery in which the section with scar tissue is removed (the scar tissue is what is causing the seizures). She'll need a lot of love and support--if this is causing this much distress for you, think how she feels?

First of all,your niece is not having fits,she is having seizures! Trust me,I know,I have Epilepsy,and no one who has Epilepsy likes their seizures to be called fits! Secondly,if her seizures had gone away and then came back,I would bring her to a neurologist-not a doctor-she needs a specialist now.Also their all different kinds of medicine she can take,sure I can tell you what I take-but I am 37 years old,my medicine may not help her,let her neurologist decide what medicine she should take,and please don't wait to long to get her a specialists,she needs one right now!
