I'm going to the dentist soon, and I know I'll be getting a novocaine shot to numb part of my mouth. I remember when I was younger, that I was really scared and the shot hurt A LOT. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. Does it really hurt that much or was I just tricking myself?

I had a filling placed on a front tooth (tooth 7) over a month ago and this tooth is still bothering me. I recently got my teeth cleaned , 3 days ago and it just got worse after that. It seems to be hurting on the opposite side of where the cavity was, around the corner of tooth 7 where it meets tooth 8. I also keep feeling grit between tooth 7 and tooth 8 and I'm not eating or anything. Does anyone know what's going on here? Is my filling coming out? I'm having severe sensations now in this tooth and my two front teeth, and this tooth aches daily and I feel it when I bend over, chew gum, etc... Could my bite be off? Or the filling placed too high? My dentist checked the tooth and said there was nothing wrong with it and said if it continues he'd recommend a root canal which I will use as a last resort. He told me this tooth had very little decay so I don't understand how this could be happening to me. This tooth isn't sensitive to hot, cold or sweets. Should I consider desensitizing?

I am really nervous about getting the surgery, but I'm hoping I'll be happier afterwords. My joints are grinding together and there is no fluid left in my left jaw joint :( Is moving my jaw back going to give me a double chin?

If there was a root canal being undertaken; then if they did use anesthetic, would it mean that a large area of my mouth would go numb?

The top of the tooth had been opened up and there was what looks like a syringe put in and no pain anyway, but no numbness anywhere else in the mouth.
This occured on the first appiontment during the theropy.

I have severe problems with breaking and discolored teeth. I have a DMO, but was told I would need to have $1000 cash up front. They wouldn't work on a payment plan because I have a DMO. I can make monthly payments, but don't have that kind of money all at once and don't have great credit because of medical issues. I'm in so much pain and desperate to get this done. Any suggestions?

Sometimes I have a headache and when I stop to think about it, I realize my jaw is shut really tight, so I just loosen my jaw and it goes away.... until a few hours later I realize I'm doing it again!?!?

What causes this? How do I stop?!!?

My dentist charged me @$40 to replace a filling. He put the original one in about a year ago, and it came out yesterday while I was flossing. Should I have had to pay for the replacement? Should I ask for a refund?

Does anyone know why you are not supposed to eat or drink anything six hours before having your wisdom teeth pulled?

I'm 40 and have very healthy teeth and gums. My (new) dentist is telling me I need a treatment called "perio scale & root pin." I go in every six months for cleanings, and have never before been told I need this treatment. From what I've read, it sounds fairly painful and there seems to be a high likelihood of infection as a result of it.

Is this legitimate, or is this guy just a scam artist?

I just had all 4 of my Wisdom Teeth removed ( at the dentist....no oral surgeon ) It has been a few days....but my lower lip and chin are stll numb ( as are about 4 teeth ) Ive already been back to the dentist and know that it is nerve damage ( He has only seen one other case in 20 yrs practice ) My question is this....Has anybody else out there had this problem....and if so; how long did it take to resolve ? My dentist said his previous case took 2 months to regain feeling.

I was fixing my sons toy and I got some superglue on my finger tips, not alot but enough to annoy. Any other time I chew it off and mess my finger tips all up, and I would like to know just in case one of my kids ever got into it.
