I had my wisdom teeth pulled back in july last summer. It wasnt that bad, because i wasnt awake for it, and i didnt really feel any sharp pains or anything. the pain really doesnt start coming on until the third and fourth days, cuz you are really sore. the pain medicine they prescribe you helps a ton though.

as for braces, well i hope you arent getting them done at the same time as your wisdom teeth, cuz that would hurt. for a while.

i remember that right after i got my braces on it didnt hurt but it looked rediculous. but about three days later, my teeth were soooooo sore! because they were suddenly being moved a ton.

good luck if you are getting these things done!

Everyone's pain tolerance is different. Some people get up the day after and are good to go and don't need any pain meds and others wel..... I am also in the process of getting braces and I just had 4 teeth extracted and I am having to wait 2 weeks to let my gums heal and then the week after I am getting braces. Every orthodontist is different. I have heard of some people getting brace just a few days after extractions. I wish you the best of luck.

If they are planning on removing all four wisdom teeth at once, you are in for a very uncomfortable experience to say the least. Your best bet is to have this done by an oral surgeon and not a dentist. They tend to have more ways to comfort you (meds), and in some cases can even make it nearly painless. Your mouth will be very sore for a couple weeks afterwards. You won't be able to suck through a straw, chew solid foods, etc... for at least a couple days, but after that things should get back to normal. Hope this helps!

I used to assist in that exact surgery, over 20 years. You didn't state your age but between 14 and 19 is the best time. The surgeon will most likely just perform the procedure in his office, you will be sedated, but will most likely remember very little afterwards. You'll be perfectly comfortable for the surgery, it is your home care that makes a difference, Absolutely no smoking, no drinking through a straw, and use the ice 30 min on, 30 min off as much as possible to decrease the swelling. The ice is only effective the first 2 days, so do it as much as you can then. Be sure to take pain medication he gives you, but not on an empty stomach, it will make you nauseated and throw up. Figure on judt laying on the cough for about 5 days and you should start feeling better. Believe me, we used to do 10 cases of these a day, the surgeon is quick and very proficient, but you'll met him at the required consult before surgery, don't hesitate to ask any questions. And most important...nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night of your surgery...if you forget and eat or drink something, don't lie and tell them that you had nothing. Your chance of vomiting during the surgery is great and your food could come up go into a lung, causeing pneumonia. SO NOTHING to eat or dsrink! Afterwards drink carnation instant breakfast in milk, pudding, ice cream, mashed potatoes. Goes down easy and you'll need to keep youir strength up to heal. I am sure they will wait a few weeks to start the braces, you will not be able to open your mouth wide for awhile, and you'll be sore. So don't worry, if they want to start the nbraces and you don't feel 100% yet, then just tell them you want to wait longer, they will understand! Any questions....trust me, I have done about 1,000 of these cases at lease just reach me at djmcw43@yahoo.com Good luck, and most of all relax and just let the anesthesia do it's job to get you sleepy, don't try to fight it. GOOD LUCK!

wisdom teeth suck. but it also depends on your pain tolerance. my cousin has a really high one, and she was eating solid foods the next day. i am a complete wimp and was drinking soup for a week. Make sure you keep ice on it the first night though, to keep the swelling down. but usually, the recovery time for wisdom teeth is about a week before you're feeling almost completely normal again. Unless you get dry sockets, those are god awful pain that you would never wish on anyone. Ask your oral surgeon and your orthodontist. they can give you a better idea of what you're getting into.

good luck!!!

I just had 6 pulled on friday.. all at one time. It wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Yes its sore, but its nothing that isnt tolerable, I recommend either keeping your head up when you are sleeping or take a hefty dose of pain pills because it tends to swell more when you lay down, I also found that over boiled pierogies are a pretty good bite to eat when your crippled at the mouth, snack packs, mashed potatoes, also drink from a glass... take it easy.

Getting teeth pulled is NOT fun! Yes there will be a recovery period, unless you are very unusual. Beauty and health can be a real PAIN, but the alternative isn't good either, in the society we live in. GOOD LUCK!!!

they'll be giving you novacaine or putting you asleep for 30min while they take your wisdom teeth out, so you won't feel it...recovery on that is about 2 or 3 days. braces, everyones different but that could take about a week. that feels more like pressure.

go to a biologic dentist for the wisdom teeth or you will get cavitations. if you need a list of sites to find one, email me at aharleygyrl@icqmail.com

there can be pain with the wisdom teeth and it should all be gone within 2 weeks. it varies with the individual.
