I have heard this can make the teeth sensitive and weaken the enamel. Has anyone else heard this report? What is good today , will be no good tomorrow.

I had an upper 1st molar extracted 3 weeks ago, developed dry socket, and also a reddish bubble (denist calls this granulation tissue) over the entire extraction site. Yesterday the Dentist performed a curretage to clean out the site, also packed it with clove oil dressing. It's sore now and I'm not due to have the packing out for another week. Does all of this sound normal? I'm scared!

My 4 yr old is getting ready to go through a dental procedure where he will be having baby root canals and crowns. They are putting him to sleep to do this. Have any of you been through this?

I am asking a question of why every one thinks that biting your nails is a bad thing. I just want to get it straight how many people here bite there nails how many people really bite there nails so there not there and cant stop how many people don't want to stop and just keep bitting.

I always see girls biting there nails when i go out and just wonder if you like doing it and if i told some one that i dont mind you doing it would that be ok.?

The stereotype exists and often seems to be true that the British seem to have more crooked teeth than people from other regions.. Why is this?

I've gone through a number of threads that talk about teeth becoming sensitive after teeth whitening because of the effect of peroxide on the enamel.

Is this sensitivity permanent or temporary?
Is there any permanent damage to the enamel? I wouldn't want to get white teeth at the expense of destroying my teeth.

Thank you

I know that sounds like a dumb question, but I'm curious how it works. Does it stop the bleeding somehow? There's still a hole. The stitches hurt so much in the following days. :-(

I have intense anxiety about a worse case scenario of losing my molars and not being able to chew anymore. Currently I have all my teeth but I may lose 2 major molars because the crowns don't stay glued on. Even if I lose these 2 molars I will still have one more molar chewing surface left, but am afraid what if something happens to these teeth as well. To overcome my anxiety I need to know how I would cope in the worst case scenario of losing all my molars. How would I be able to keep my weight on if I can't chew anymore? I know there are dentures, but what if the dentures fail from a gag reflex or the partial keeps falling off? I would be so depressed not being able to eat regular food anymore. I love to eat. Just the thought of the worst case scenario depresses me and makes me anxious even though it may never get this far. If I do ever lose my teeth, how would I survive? What could I eat if I can't chew/if the dentures fail? I fear wasting away and starving to death.

My dentist told me to floss, so I do, but should I floss up and down? Because it seems to me that that movement might actually pushes food lower down the teeth. Or do I go side to side? but how do I know I'm going far enough then?

So I have worn my braces for a year now and my orthodontist says I have about 3-4 months left.

But, there is one complication. I have had this dental impaction on my first molar. It is a baby tooth. Before I had braces, the tooth barely emerged from the gums. Now that I am a year into having the braces, the tooth is slowly dropping due to more space it has. Also, the tooth is slightly decayed.

So my orthodontist said this: I should go to the oral surgeon and get it checked out. If the oral surgeon says for me to take the baby tooth out, then I will need to continue wearing braces for one more year. If I decide to keep the tooth and maybe do something somewhere down the road, then I get the braces off in the 3-4 months and I would have to get a special retainer that holds the space where the tooth hasn't fully emerged.

Does anyone have any ideas/comments on what I should do? I am definitely going to the oral surgeon soon, but I will make the ultimate decision at the end

I got a big new white filling after the old filling broke and now the anesthetic has worn off and the tooth hurts bad. I can't chew on it at all. It did't hurt before I got the filling. Why is it hurting?

I just got denture plates put in my mouth and they don't fit right yet. dentist told me to try and eat best I can with them until I can get back to see her. But I can barely chew at all and today I had a sandwich cause I was starving! but didn't get it chewed up very good at all before swallowing and now my stomach is upset. Will this mess up my digestive system and are there other things I should be concerned about?
