An arched palate is when the roof of the mouth is higher in the mouth than normal. Overall, it is more common than you think. Specifically, how common it is depends on why the arched palate exists (which disease process):
Cleft palate - 1 in 2,500 births in the U.S.
Marfan's Syndrome - 1 in 2,000 births in the U.S.
Turner's Syndrome - 1 in 2,500 female births in the U.S.
