I know this is kind of a gross question, but I'm sick - flu-ish and I just ate and I'm fighting to keep vomit down. I feel like I'd feel a lot better if I could throw up but I'm scared of how it will effect the hole in my mouth that is healing from when I got a molar removed yesterday.

I've been on hydro's for my wisdom teeth extractions, today I went and "fake n baked". I waited until my pain pills had worn off so I'd be okay to drive, but I was just wondering if there are any bad side effects when you combine the two?

I'm on day 3 of no wisdom teeth. I want to use my crest whitestrips but don't know if it is safe to do so yet. When can I use them again?

My dentist told me that I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. My concern is that he told me that “ It will hurt a lot after “ I checked this with others who have told me they were out for a week. The wisdom teeth are enflamed and a cause of bad breath and some pain. The dentist also told me that I did not have to be put to sleep because he could not guaranty if I would wake up. How can I be awake while he cuts all four of them out? Can someone shed some positive light on this dilemma? I also have to come up with $ 1000 to get this done witch is roughly a one months salary. Can OHIP cover some of it? Thanks to all who answer.

My dentist told me that my wisdom teeth were going to come in nicely and I was going to have enough room for them on my last checkup (it's time for me to go again soon). Unfortunately, he warned me that it's like a baby cutting teeth, they'll be in a lot of pain and get fevers even though they have enough room for the teeth.

So...I've had pain in the very back of all 4 corners of my mouth for the last 2 weeks. My jaw is stiff and I've been getting fevers. I can even see a little bit of white on my bottom right. There's no doubt in my mind that it's my wisdom teeth.

How much longer will it take for them to grow in, just on average? Any advice you can give me to ease the pain?

I had a really mean dentist when I was little so now in my 30's I am still terrified of the dentist. Whenever I have major work done I have them use the gas. I would rather have a baby than go to the dentist. Anyone else feel the same way?

I woke up this morning and as I was laying in bed, the bottom of my front tooth felt rough and like the enamel was flaking off. I looked in the mirror and a little piece of it was chipped off. How could this have happened as I don't remember hitting my mouth or anything. Is it important to have this fixed or anything? I don't have dental insurance, and the appearance doesn't bother me as much as the worry that it could cause something more serious.

My little boy, who has just turned 6, has just been told that he needs to have a primary molar taken out (it is crumbling away), and his dentist intends to do this with a local anaesthetic today. We have already been warned that when he is older he will need some secondary teeth removing and to wear braces. He is rather nervous and I am worried that this extraction is going to set him up with a fear of future treatment. Friends are recommending that he would be better off having it done under a general anaesthetic. What do you think? I could really do with some advice!!

I have one of those permanent wire retainers behind the bottom front row of my teeth. I feel like there's something stuck in the middle of it. I tried taking it out with floss and even a toothpick, but I can't get it out. I have no idea how long it's been there... but I just now noticed it.

Does anybody else have this problem?

And I could've sworn that my orthodontist said this retainer would be moved when I'm 18. But then again, I was only 12... so I probably don't remember right. I had it put on right after I my braces were taken off.

Is this retainer supposed to be in my mouth forever? My teeth are straight, and I really don't think it will move and get crooked again if I DON'T have a retainer... I don't know anybody else who has a permanent wire retainer like I do...

As I understand it, a dental patient in CA can make a written request for a copy of his records, and that there is a copying charge, (which I do not dispute.) Does this include a "copy" of the jaw study models?
Since I am going to have several consults for Implants, I would like to be prepared.

I took my own set of x-rays (paid for at a General Dentist's office in CA) to an Implant Consult (in CA). Now the Implant guy will return them only if I pay him for copies. I purchased my own set, as I want 3 different implant consults, using my own set at the different consults. Why can't I do this without paying over and over for the same x-rays?

I have been for two visits to my primary dentist and he has refered me to a oral surgeon to have a wisdom tooth taken out, I ahd the consultation with my oral surgeon and he took x rays and it came to $85 each one total 170. I got a thing from aetna insurnace saying the x-rays was denied, I called them up and questioned them about it and they said it was becasue i already had x rays done this year with my primary dentist. I had called like two weeks before THe insurance, and i talked to a guy and he said that a specialist visist would be covered at 100% and not counted in the two visits, However i said WEll why did you cover the visit but not the x rays when i called today, SHe then says well I think we made an error, I"ll need to process this one again, I said well i was told that i have a specialist benefit, SHe looks for a while and then says "oh yeah i guess you do. Do you think i just screwed myself out of the office visit, Or do a lot of ins. comp. have this unadvertised benifit?

Hi, I'm still in the process of determining if I should get a dental bridge. I did lose a front tooth, and I'd like to ask anyone out there in YahooAnswersLand that might have lost a front tooth and gotten a bridge:

Question : Can you tell the difference, with a dental bridge, that it's not your own tooth? This is hard to put into words, but does it feel normal, once you get the bridge in, or does it feel strange?
I know I'd have to be careful with it, and floss it all around, forever.

Question #2.. What about teeth whitening? Has anyone out there had their teeth whitened, and if so, which method is the best ?

I saw on the Net that I can send for the same basic system the dentist will use, for about 1/3rd the price.. But I don't know what strength of solution to buy? 16%, 22 % or 40 %, or the potential damage it could do to my teeth vis a vie sensitivity? Is there an on line whitening site that you trust?
Thanks everyone...
