I had a really mean dentist when I was little so now in my 30's I am still terrified of the dentist. Whenever I have major work done I have them use the gas. I would rather have a baby than go to the dentist. Anyone else feel the same way?

i still have to have gas when i go to the dentist because needles scare me for some reason, my grandma told me that when i was little the nurse that gave me my immunazation shot hurt me really bad and now i have a phobia of needles not that they hurt when there in but coming at me with a needle could be deatramental to to thier health, for serious although just talking about it seems funny when you need to tell someone what a wimp you are when it comes to dumb stuff that doesnt even really hurt. but i guess thats what a phobia is a unrealitic fear but it sounds to me you really remember getting hurt and dentists can and do really hurt sometimes but its better than the alturnitive having bad teeth can hurt too.

I am 31 and had all four wisdom teeth extracted today with Novocaine alone (didn't trust military Dr's, so I waited til post military.). What a violent procedure? I wish I would have opted for the gas. Being violently pulled around in a chair while you hear your teeth cracking is not fun. Didn't hurt, but different from what I had expected. I truly feel for those prior to our great technology/drugs. Oh, gotta go pop a Vic..

Well not really.I loved my dentist he was so nice to us! I got laughing gas when I got a cavity taking out. The gas isn't all that bad it just makes you feel a little dizzy/sleepy and plus it didn't even hurt when he took it out! He used just the right amount of numbing solution and I didn't feel no pain whatsoever!

I can relate..my childhood dentist was the "dental nazi" with bad breath and even worse bad plaid pants. I dont know about the baby part, i had one recently and the dentist isnt QUITE as bad ( i have no dental problems though)

Yes. I'm a pain wimp; I have them use it for anything beyond a regular exam.

I almost look forward to the dental visits because of the nitrous. Almost.
