I took my own set of x-rays (paid for at a General Dentist's office in CA) to an Implant Consult (in CA). Now the Implant guy will return them only if I pay him for copies. I purchased my own set, as I want 3 different implant consults, using my own set at the different consults. Why can't I do this without paying over and over for the same x-rays?

Have you ASKED him why you have to pay for x-rays that YOU provided? I'd guess that he's not aware that you provided them. The guy probably sees hundreds of people a month and I'd think that most of them didn't bring their own. Also, put your request in writing, explaining that he didn't order the x-rays, you brought them with you. You may also want to mention that if you cannot pick them up within ten days, you will contact an attorney. Send it registered mail.

I'm not sure what the laws are in California, but if you have paid receipts for the x-rays, I'd guess that one trip to the local police department with the letter and receipt would do the trick. At least, that will do it here in Michigan.

Good Luck!

try asking your dentist to help you also. his office might also be interested in hearing about your troubles with this specialist, we always are. too many complaints = no more referrals from us, that hurts in a smaller town.

If they were YOUR set and the specialist didn't take them, they're yours. Contact your state dental board for more assistance or advice.
